"Don't walk, run! Do not stay here! Stating the same as everyone else. 1st floor reeks of raw sewage. Like hazardous for your health bad. I have no idea how the front desk people stand it. Room was dirty. Lotion dispenser in place of soap in shower, which looking back, seems quite fitting. Never felt comfortable during our stay, and based on the response from 'management' for these reviews, these issues will never be addressed. Diamond member, swore off Hilton and should've kept it that way. Marriot properties seem to be so much better lately. 2 of the front desk workers were actually friendly, and the rest were at least professional."
"Average experience overall. Not a very warm greeting upon arrival. Room was clean. They did manage to put our two rooms next to each other so that was cool. Hotel appeared to be clean and bed was comfortable for a hotel bed. No sign of bedbugs (I always check). Overall I got what I expected. Nothing more and nothing less. Not really worthy of taking pictures."
"BUGS BUGS BUGS. 2 rooms the first had BUGS everywhere. So we asked for another room. Not as many but on the ceiling, TV and windows were bugs. The morning desk person was rude about it. Said something like we should have changed hotels.. in the middle of the night after spending $100+ on this room. The smell when you walk in is a poop smell, punch to the face. Hallways outside the rooms smell like 100 wet dogs. One look at the ice machine and decided warm water was fine. We didn't even look at the breakfast because our room was infested the kitchen was not going to be trusted. Can't believe this is a Hiton property. Talked to Hilton customer support and they said they'd tell "someone". The absolute worst part was the bed. 6 springs poked me all night. We would have had a nice stay at a roadside motel. This place is one of the worst stays of my life."
"Location excellent. Service horrible, very dry unresponsive employees. Someone next door was smoking cigarettes and weed. The smell was all in my room. I called downstairs to tell them and was told " What do you want me to do about it.".. I had body lotion bottle as body wash I told front desk Monday night and the dude didn't believe me. He said housekeeping will check. They never checked. They clean the rooms every 4 days, unless you request. No wonder there is roaches everywhere. I had one on my bed Tuesday night. Worse service and worse hotel experience I have ever had. As an weekly traveler I stay at Marriott or Holiday Inn. I have never had service that was horrible as this. Unbelievable, Hilton, listen to the customer apparently this is a problem at this location. I recommend you getting it fixed. I canceled my next 2 reservation at this location. I cannot believe for the amount I paid how horrible it was.."

Despite these issues, I appreciate that the location of the Hampton Inn Charlotte/Matthews may be convenient for some travelers. However, I hope that the hotel management takes steps to improve both the customer service and the condition of the rooms to provide a more pleasant stay for future guests."
