Reviews of Bynum Bluff Trailhead
"Though easier than most river accesses into the gorge, don't get fooled into thinking this is an casual stroll. The first half mile is very flat and pleasant but after that it gets steeper and rocky. Strong hikers won't have any issues with this one but if you're not used to lots of elevation gain or more rugged trails you might not enjoy this one as much. That being said, this is a great trail overall with a couple of good campsites. It takes you down to the Linville Gorge and Pine Gap Trails and also continues to the river. Parking lot is the next one on the left after Pine for those going south on 105 and on the right after the Cabin Trailhead for those going northbound."
"Absolutely worth every step of the way!!!! Although the trail may be difficult and rocky in some areas, it is definitely a path you will want to take! The views are amazing and serene!!!"
"Awesome easy hike to the Linville River."
"2.5 miles round trip. The first 1/2 mile of the trail was flat, then it gets steep. It took us 30 minutes to get into the Gorge and another 30 to hike back out. Awesome views at the bottom!!! About a 600ft elevation gain when hiking back out."
"Another trail down into the linville gorge. Therefore, it is somewhat difficult, but not as bad as others. It's close to 3 miles, round trip. I think 2.8 to be exact. A few good views of the river on the way down, also a small set of waterfalls. Highway 105 can be rough, so I suggest taking 181 to get there."
