Reviews
"Usually taking a chance eating Asian cuisine in area not surrounded with Asian population. The food is good - not amazing but good. However, the server Jonny definitely made this restaurant a 5 stars review in my book. He made good recommendations and is very patient while having a great humor. Very attentive and explained things so well. We really enjoyed this experience and definitely will return again when we are in Bayonne, NJ!"
"This was our first visit since they changed management because reviews have been low but I wanted to give it a chance. When I stepped inside, the server asked where I wanted to sit and set up a table for 6 immediately with a highchair and kid friendly eating plates and cups. Looking around, the updated interiors were refreshing. The staff were attentive, organized but we did have to follow up on a jackfruit shake that was ordered at the same time as our meals. The food however was not on point. It lacked authenticity and depth in taste. We ordered the shrimp and papaya salad, pork chop over rice and pho ga. These are Vietnamese menu classics aren't that difficult to make yet The Corner Pho skimps on ingredients that make these dishes taste authentic. The papaya salad dressing tasted like simple syrup with a drop of fish sauce. The pork chop was thin, overcooked and burnt. The pho ga tasted like regular chicken broth with overcooked pieces of shredded chicken, leaving me parched afterwards. The pho was served with a side of bean sprouts, lime, sliced jalapeno a piece of ngò gai (sawtooth coriander) but no basil. Please make better Vietnamese food. Authenticity wins!"
"They have rebranded. But menu items are more or less the same. I was disappointed to see no Banh Mi on the menu. The ambience of the place feels upscale and spacious. Food was decent and generous quantities but nothing to rave about. The staff were very friendly and courteous."
"We had lunch here twice on Sundays and were seated right away. The place was spacious with nice decor. Service was very friendly and attentive. Both the full menu and lunch menu were available. We had tried one appetizer, Fresh summer rolls with shrimp. The rolls themselves were bland. Their flavor only came from the peanut dipping sauce. This might be how they were supposed to be, but I wasn't a fan. We liked the two Phos that we had tried, Pho with steamed shrimp and Pho with grilled pork chops. However, they didn't come with mint or Thai basil, which were essential IMHO. For rice dishes, we had Shaken beef cubes with rice and Grilled short ribs over broken rice. Both had a good portion size with flavorful and tender beef/ribs. Overall, a welcome addition to the neighborhood."
"Amazing Vietnamese! Pho is amazing, beef stew is amazing, bo luc lac - incredible, grilled pork chop - to die for! Ohh and definitely try the spring rolls, yum! Came in on a Monday afternoon for lunch, price was definitely right, and plates filled! Delicious comfort food right near home. I’m surprised more people weren’t here for the Lunch Special.. I definitely 100% recommend!"
