"Probably my favorite trail in the Boone/Blowing Rock area. Not too long, but with enough inclines and changing terrain to offer a good workout along with the interesting landscapes. Waterproof shoes/boots are a must due to the many creek crossings. Trail will lead you through pastures, forests, over hills, and underneath the parkway itself, which is my favorite part. You may have it to yourself, as well, given it seems less popular than other trails, due to the lack of “views.” I’d rate it as moderate because of some steep inclines, rocks, and lots of roots; took me about an hour and a half to finish, including many photo breaks. Highly recommend!"
"Great hike! I would rate it between moderate and difficult. Definitely not an easy hike. But rewarding."
"Beautiful trail that starts by a pond, follows and crisscrosses Sims Creek under the parkway, and then ascends about 400 feet into a mix of pastureland and forest. Lots of roots and rocks but never too steep. The leaves are spectacular by the pond in the fall"
"Highly recommend. Lots of pasture, streams, wildflowers, and mountain views. It took our family of 9(4 adults, 5 kids) and 2 1/2 hrs. We did stop so the smaller kids could run through the pasture and roll down the hills."
"Really pretty trail but a heads up the Google trailhead and the Alltrails trailhead are at different places. The Alltrails is a much harder ending to the trail with a very short aprox 250 elevation gain. We did the Alltrails which starts with a steep decline and some steps taking you to the Blue Ridge Parkway bridge cross a stream and into the woods followed by a pasture and another woods and then the Green Knob. You hike back into the woods and then come to BRP which to have a short walk along and then cross it to the parking area. Hike around the lake back through the woods there are many stream and bridge crossings finally ending back at that steep climb back out. Definitely recommend."
