Anderson's Frozen Custard
About the Business
Anderson's Frozen Custard is a beloved institution located at 2369 Niagara Falls Boulevard in Amherst, New York. Specializing in all-natural roast beef and delicious frozen custard, Anderson's has been a staple in the Buffalo area since 1946. Founded by Mr. and Mrs. Carl and Greta Anderson, who were of Swedish descent, the family-owned business has grown to include six locations in Western New York.
The original custard stand on Kenmore Avenue has since been replaced by a larger drive-in style store on Sheridan Drive, which still operates today. The tradition of quality and friendly service has been passed down through the generations, with Holly Anderson now at the helm alongside her son Torsten, who is part of the Executive Leadership team.
Anderson's Food Truck also brings a unique twist to Food Truck Fridays on Millersport Highway, offering a mouthwatering menu featuring all-natural roast beef on weck. Whether you're craving a sweet treat or a savory meal, Anderson's Frozen Custard has something for everyone. Come visit us and experience the delicious flavors and warm hospitality that have made Anderson's a local favorite for over 70 years.

"First time and the frozen custard is very good strong flavors. I tried bannana with rainbow sprinkles & Lemon ice. Very suprised how good it was and look forward to trying more."
"Had the bbq beef sandwich and it did not disappoint. Moist and fresh, with just enough flavor. The sweet potato fries I prefer over the curly fries, they had more moisture to them. The curly fries were a bit dry, but fine. I like Anderson’s and it’s a Buffalo staple. I won’t break that tradition."
"A WNY staple for almost 80 years! Mr & Mrs. Carl & Greta Anderson, opened the first Anderson’s Frozen Custard in the Bronx, NY. They say that missing family they returned to Buffalo, to open their second custard stand on Kenmore Avenue in 1947. From there they expanded to other locations, such as Tonawanda (pictured in the attached pics), Amherst, Williamsville, Lancaster... The Amherst location lacks some of the initial charm of some of the older locations but is clean, updated and comfortable. There is a drive-thru window and outdoor seating when the weather permits. You order at the front counter and they call your name when your food is ready for pick-up. This is not a 5 star roast beef, but it's considerably better than an Arby's etc., as this is 100% natural beef (so 4 of 5 stars for me). Moist and delicious every time with Kaiser or the traditional kimmelwick roll options (horseradish available too). My last trip it tasted great, but was cooked a little more than I like (med rare - med). Their pickles are pretty amazing too. Curly fries (good not great), salads, soup, chicken and many other options available. Ice cream cones (hard and soft serve)and even delicious ice cream cakes (my favorite) are available to go. Great for parties etc. Fountain drinks (you fill - refill) are available with Pepsi and lesser known but unique flavor options including loganberry. If you're hungry and in the area of one of these, stop in!"
"Found this gem during my last visit to Buffalo. Reviewers raved about the frozen custard, which has thicker consistency than ice cream. The vanilla frozen custard was great, not overwhelmingly sweet, without the mess that comes with rapidly-melting ice cream. It's so popular that the restaurant has two queue lines, one for ice cream and the other for food. As for food, the cashier recommended the roast beef on weck, which also seems to be the local favourite. The roast beef was tender and flavourful, and the salt on top of the bun added an interesting balance when in moderation (I had to discard some salt from the bun, as it overpowered the beef slightly). The traditional roast beef came covered with toasts, but came drenched with gravy that might have been reduced too much. It was too salty for me, so I had to scrape some gravy from the bread, but it was still a pleasant comfort food during a cold day."
"The chicken sandwich and roast beef sandwiches were delicious and full of flavor. The fries were hot and the drive thru worker was very pleasant. The Reece pieces sundae is an excellent ice cream option. There is also plenty of parking and space to eat inside. Prices are higher than average for ice cream, but it’s nice to have great food and dessert choices at the same place."
