"7/17/2022- My wife and I, and our son's family, and children, spent this past week in Gatlinburg. We stopped at the Visitors Center 4 times. The staff was fantastic, the store was well staffed with helpful folks, and the prices of the clothing was more than fair, in comparison with town. We asked for advice for hiking, both novice and more advanced trails. The Rangers were super helpful, sending me to Chimney Top, and for the milder hikes. Little River Trail, and Middle Prong, and in between, Rainbow Falls, all super choices. Thank you. LAST: We always try to learn about the history of every place we go on vacation. One of the books in the visitors center is excellent, and there are pictures which really help tell the story. It's an easy read. "Mountain Home", Wilma Dykeman and Jim Stokely. "This is about the visitor center itself. Not the restroom. Nicely staffed. Lots of wildlife represented in display cases. Nice short nature hike to a little waterfall."

"This is the starting point for your drive through the smokey mountains. I urge you to stop at the center to walk through the gift shop, watch a short film, speak to the park rangers, and get a map. Right behind the center is a short trail that takes you to cataract falls."
