The Sinks is a park and tourist attraction located at Old State Highway 73 Scenic in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, United States. The park is known for its numerous waterfalls, including Grotto, Laurel, Abrams, Rainbow, and many others. With over 200,000 visitors annually, The Sinks is a popular destination for hiking and exploring the natural beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains.

It is important to note that drowning is a leading cause of death in the park, so visitors are advised to practice water safety and avoid swimming or riding inner tubes in park waters. The park receives ample rainfall, making it ideal for waterfalls to thrive. With over 2,000 miles of streams flowing through the Smokies, visitors can enjoy sparkling waterfalls and cascades throughout the park.

Some of the notable waterfalls in the park include Abrams Falls, Grotto Falls, Hen Wallow Falls, Indian Creek and Toms Branch Falls, Juney Whank Falls, Laurel Falls, Lynn Camp Prong Cascades, Mingo Falls, Mouse Creek Falls, Rainbow Falls, and Ramsey Cascades. Each waterfall offers a unique and picturesque experience for visitors to enjoy.

For those interested in exploring the waterfalls of the Smokies, a guide is available with detailed directions, trailhead information, hiking distances, and difficulty ratings for over 40 of the best waterfalls in the park. Visitors can also purchase books, maps, and guides to the park from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park's official online store, with proceeds going towards educational, scientific, and historical projects in the park.

"It's a great place to stop on your way over to Gatlinburg. Also could be a great turn around to go back to Townsend. This stop has parking, but it's tight so take it easy. A great photo opp and plenty of hiking trails with great views. Definitely a place to stop and explore!"

"Loved the waterfalls, pretty drive up the roads to get to views, breathtaking mountainsides - we drove up in rented UTVs, was fun in the fresh open air! Limited parking, very popular "sight seeing" here ; bathrooms close by & easily accessible. I'm a risk taker & climb out over the guard rails on to rocks and hillsides- do not recommend ! If not fit and confident, park has rails set up to keep people OFF of ledges and dangerous, slippery rocks. A tumble down the boulders would NOT be fun & could be lethal. River was gorgeous, tho: we had clear blue skies and crisp autumn breezes, a perfect day to listen to the water rush past . Photos away from allowable paths, NOT on bridge or platform. Still pretty, on the viewing dias!"

"Beautiful. The overview of the sinks here is very accessible. Right off the road with plenty of parking. Breathtaking views. Hiking trails right past the overview."

"I had a wonderful experience at The Sinks in Great Smoky Mountains NP! The 15 ft scenic cascading waterfall is stunning. It is named "The Sinks" for the large whirlpool at its base. It can be seen from the road and comfortably viewed from a vehicle. Perfect for families passing through or those seeking an easily accessible yet scenic spot. It's a must-see."

"We went to The Sinks when it was raining but it was still an excellent experience. The path is paved only to the overlook for the falls. Just past the end of the paved path starts a few steps then a rather steep dirt path covered with tree roots. This dirt path takes you around to the pool where some people swim. There have been drownings here in the past but it's a popular swimming spot, even in the rain. I recommend water shoes both for getting to & from the water and for in the water. The path to the water does take you through some woods. This is a beautiful location."
