"Was looking for a vet closer to home and this one came recommended by 2 friends. Set up a welcome visit & evaluation which went well, staff and vets were kind. HOWEVER... I set up teeth cleaning appointments for both dogs and that is where it went downhill from there. First dog, gets green light for teeth cleaning, they call about an molar tooth which needs a professional to remove, no big deal, but they will proceed with the cleaning. Make appt. at specialist who reveals just how bad the fracture is; in not only one, but two major molar teeth. How in the heck did they miss this?! Plus it was visually infected and they never bothered to provide antibiotics or pain medication - how could they see this and not know the dog had to be in pain/infection. Further, the specialist eluded, that it did not appear his teeth were ever cleaned due to the HIGH amount of build up. So I paid for another cleaning at the specialist - wow what a difference, no way did Banfield clean the teeth apt two weeks prior - unless I paid $400+ for them to use toothpaste and a brush. Second dog, said she failed the bloodwork and so they ran more tests. Once additional tests were ran she was cleared for a teeth cleaning but said it was "too late" in the day so they would need to reschedule... no biggie, right? Except now they want to run the tests all over again - this dog always has issues with ALC's which means the whole process would start over again (also is shown in her vet records). I asked and they confirmed they would start all over again with both testing... which is not cheap and takes most of the day to get through both tests. SO, would be in same situation where they wouldn't do cleaning because it's 'too late' in the day. Good luck trying to get invoices off the app or the online account too - I've yet to get it to download. Disgusted with how they run this practice and would never recommend to anyone based off my experience."
"I accompanied my daughter here to help her with her new rescue dog. We were immediately greated by a very friendly staff member as she made over her dog. Another staff member ushered us to a room where she gathered Info about the dog. When vet ( Dr Vasquez) came in and told us what they would do, she could not have been more emphatic about the dog who visibly had issues. After a very thorough examination, the news wasn't good, but again, Dr Vasquez told my daughter in very compassionate terms what she recommended for her dog. It's been my experience that all Banfield vets are caring people."
"I took my dog here as part of his wellness plan several weeks ago for an eye exam. The vet told me that he had possible signs of early aging in his eyes and that no follow up was needed. I got a second opinion recently and was referred to the ophthalmologist who Banfield said I didn’t need to see. The vet at this location told me to continue to monitor it. She couldn’t tell me any possible causes for the cloudiness in his L eye for a dog who is only three. There are multiple medications that my dog is now taking for the cataract in his left eye. I do not love that every time I visit I do not always see the vet. Most of the time I am helped by the front desk and techs who are nice. Canceling the wellness plan was very difficult and costly as well. Even though I pay monthly I still owed nearly $500 at time of cancellation. I would skip over coming here and see another vet in the area."
"If your cat is not submissive and puts up a fight at the vet do not take them here. They have no clue how to perform examinations on cats like this and act almost afraid of them. I went two times and all they were able to do was weigh him and administer one vaccine. Im guessing the vets are inexperienced and don’t know how to scruff a cat? Don’t waste your time here if your cat is like this."
"UPDATE 8/16: Rachel saves the day! Corporate contacted me within a day and told me that the local office would be in touch. Rachel very kindly called me back and she worked out the issue after going over the invoice with me. She was extremely understanding of the situation and I can’t thank her enough for her willingness to help. As I said before, the staff has always been amazing at this location. Full disclosure- there were multiple issues with the corporate numbers/totals and had three different totals given to me by corporate on what I would owe. So my suggestion is- if you see an issue that corporate is not willing to work on or can’t explain (some things like canceling plans HAVE to be done by calling corporate) definitely call your store and see if someone is willing to work with you to get things straightened out. I’m still not sure where the numbers were coming from from corporate but everything was taken care of. Thank you again Rachel! It was a pleasure talking to you. First, the staff at this location is amazing and Rachel in particular was very helpful on the phone. I have taken my dog there when he was a puppy years ago and had the same great experience with staff. My problem is with Banfield in general, as their prices are astronomical compared to other vets in the area. I had signed up for a wellness plan for our new kitten and paid $164 for our first visit. They did an exam and 1 vaccine, and sent him home with two medications. Unfortunately, we could not keep him and had to call corporate to cancel the plan about two weeks after signing up. They said we owed $178 still for canceling the plan. So for one visit it cost us $342. Now here’s where I got really upset- when reading the invoice, it says that without a wellness plan, the visit would have been $225! So what would have cost me $61 extra cost me $178. So I overpaid by $117 and unfortunately they could not see (corporate) why I was upset and made no changes- just explained that I didn’t pay for the services and that all the medications were separate. I paid the same amount as an office visit fee for the “membership fee” but they would not count that as paying for the office visit so I had to pay ANOTHER $60 even though I had paid it in the membership fee. They said I needed to pay the full exam fee (which is separate from the office fee) even though I paid $48 in the monthly payment for the plan and the exam fee was $57. Why would I not just owe the difference? What is the monthly fee going towards if not the actual costs of services? It even said on the invoice that I had “saved” $61 by doing the wellness plan for the first visit. So how if the services were only $60 difference from not having a wellness plan, how do I owe $178 MORE than what I already paid? None of it makes any sense (and yes I have called, emailed and spoked to multiple people). If the difference for the services I had with the wellness plan came to $60 or so from what I would have paid without a wellness plan, HOW am I paying $178. Again, the staff at this location is amazing and I feel bad that this review is on their page, but I don’t have anywhere else to write it. Basically, it comes down to- I should not have had to pay an extra Office visit fee as I had already paid that EXACT amount in a membership fee. You aren’t saving anything- it’s just a different way to bill it and they won’t let you have that back. AND I should not have had to pay the full $57 of an exam fee ON TOP OF the $48 a month fee for the membership because that’s literally what the membership money is supposed to go towards… services provided. That’s where I lost my $117 and I hope it doesn’t happen to anyone else."
