Reviews
"I have been treated by several oncologists at this center and they have all been terrific! I am currently seeing Dr. Lopez and he is excellent as are all of the staff. I highly recommend Duke Blood Cancer Center."
"Dr. Costa-Chase has been my mother’s doctor for five years and provides the best care! She has great bedside manner and we really appreciate the time she takes during the appointment to explain information and answer any questions. My mother has seen dozens of doctors and Dr. Costa- Chase is by far the best, most thorough doctor. The greeter and front desk staff are very kind too."
"I have been going to the Blood cancer for over 5 years. The professionalism is the best. superb nurses and the best doctors. The center has become too small to accommodate all the patients on a daily basis. short staffed on nurses and wait time is unacceptable. Lab checkin is on point. My experience in the last 6 months is wait, wait, wait. this is for the amount of time you might sit in the crowded lobby. As you might expect signs that say if you wait over 15 min, notify checkin. Well, For the last several months my usual wait time is between one hour and today it was two, yes, two hours. ALREADY anxious over treatment and the wait really added to stress, as my blood pressure was 171/81. DUKE is a great Cancer facility. I WOULD recommend for all blood cancer patients. HOWEVER, Blood center needs to be restructured or enlarged."
"Of all the great Duke services that I’ve visited in the pass, this is one of the best. The staff are very professional, but also very friendly. All the appointments are on time and the Doctors always that as much time as needed to answer questions. They also supplied us with a number to text if we had questions later."
"I’m thankful for the care of the providers, such as Dr. Sitlinger who cared for me exceptionally well while I was hospitalized and is empathetic towards her patients. PA Therese Hennig who does her best to make sure patients under her care are taken care of. Dr. Galal who is very personable and eager to explain the specifics of your disease and the plan to cure you of it while being sure to take your input and provide you with the best possible care. The Lab/phlebotomy technicians always do a great job without issue, they are polite and courteous. The oncology nurses have all been fantastic with Johnny being our top choice. He was personable, easing going, always there as soon as a bag finished and respected my request to try to sleep through as much of the treatment as possible due to the anxiety of it all. The checkin/ checkout staff are great and I really appreciate the buzzer setup. It makes it simple and easy for everyone to know when you are up next or to get your stuff ready to start moving to the treatment area. Unfortunately, the negative is that we tend to always wait an hour for pharmacy to provide our medications to begin treatment. That would be my only criticism."
