"Avoid Dr Pickens. He does not take a patient's condition seriously and everything feels hurried. Not a patient and empathetic doctor as he just wants to be done with as quickly as possible."

"I rated UNC Peds at Southpoint in 2019 and there were some significant issues - wait time, billing, and information privacy. The actual medical care, however, has always been top-notch. I am rewriting my review now (2023) and I'm really happy to say that they really seem to have addressed these issues. We love Dr. Kavanaugh, who has been our kids' primary. She has gone above and beyond to make sure our kids have received good care, including checking in with us when our youngest had to go into the hospital for emergency surgery. We have also had good experiences with other doctors in the practice when we've needed a sick visit, especially Dr. Park. There is also a nurses' line that has been very helpful when we've needed advice after hours. They have wide hours (open until 8 during the week). I had some concerns about the front desk procedures back in 2019, but that seems to be resolved, and especially recently the staff have been patient, thoughtful, and caring. I am really just so happy about how this practice is today and would recommend them whole-heartedly!"

"Absolutely love UNC Peds at Southpoint! Their extended hours are incredible for working parents, plus their weekend hours are great when kiddos always seem to get sick after most doctors close. Numerous times I’ve called to get advice or to get our baby checked out and I’ve always spoken to a doctor virtually or gotten an in-office appointment for that same day. It brings so much peace of mind knowing expert advice is readily accessible. Each doctor has been kind and knowledgeable as well!"

"I cannot say enough wonderful things about this practice. We love all the physicians, but have primarily seen Dr. Kavanaugh. She is kind, thorough, patient and reassuring! I am most impressed with the convenient hours they have. I have gotten in same-day for sick visits every time I needed to, usually in the evening. And Saturday hours?! I have not experienced long wait times. Unfortunately, sometimes a doctor gets tied up with a patient who needs their time. You would hope they would spend that extra time with you if you needed it."

"We love Dr Pickens! He is great with our son and I really appreciate his approach to care. We tend to always have issues with the billing end of things (we pay cash) and usually have to make a few calls about every bill but they usually get everything resolved quickly. But worth having a doctor we trust with our son's care."
