"This place is a scam. I'm sadly out of a lot of money. Plus go to Facebook and reddit to hear other people's nightmare experience."
"I applied for the Masters of Accounting program. An appointment was set up for me to speak to an admissions counselor, who asked if I had a Bachelors in Accounting. I told him no, I have a BBA with a major in Finance and 18 semester hours in Accounting. He immediately told me that I didn’t meet the requirements for entry into the program for which I had applied. He said that without a Bachelor of Accounting, there was no way to be admitted. I told him that I found that rather strange because many universities, mine included, do not offer that particular degree, but instead award the BBA with a major in either accounting, finance, economics, etc. To my shock, this person working as an admissions counselor, had never heard of a BBA! I had to tell him what it was and he still didn’t seem to understand. I also explained that in addition to my education, I have worked as an accountant for 25+ years. Didn’t sway him a bit…not qualified. I asked if he could just double check with someone else and call me back and he said he would, but I never heard back. Frankly, I think I dodged a bullet."
"My experience with WGU has been positive the whole way through. I had one certification which got me accepted into their Cyber Security Bachelor's Degree program, but not a whole lot of experience to speak of at that point. The course work was challenging at times, but for the stuff I had experience with I was able to prove my proficiency and move on to the next course. Even though much of what I learned was new, I was still able to add an additional course (sometimes more) each term. In this way I was able to cut unnecessary time from my program. My mentor was encouraging and always helpful. It was beneficial to have someone to whom I was accountable for my goals. As a veteran, there were also people that helped me navigate the paperwork necessary to receive certain military benefits. I've attended other schools, and this level of assistance was unheard of at those institutions. Throughout the program I earned credible certifications that added value to my resume and knowledge that is pertinent to the work. This is the reason I was able to land a job in the Cyber Security field in the same month I had graduated. When it comes to my education, this was the best choice, by far."
"First let me counteract on a previous review that gave a 1 star- If it was important you should've scheduled an appointment via phone rather than wait for an email as facility gets bombarded with emails daily. Just my two cents on that topic. Rather unfair to give such a review based on that issue. Now for my own review. I have been with WGU for almost 4 months and have been completely pleased with staff and the education i've been receiving. The course work is challenging but not impossible. My mentor is always positive and helps me whenever i need it. Getting enrolled was lengthy, that was the only downside. Scholarships and financial aid are readily available. You'll have better chances of getting accepted if you are coming in with transferrable credits. Just a heads up."
"I was super excited to start this program due to the way I could take as many classes as I wanted in a semester for a flat fee. I am going back to school for my job, it was a requirement in order to get my promotion and move forward with the company. Starting out it seemed like a very easy experience and like everything would go well. I had multiple emails and a phone call with my enrollment counselor. My enrollment counselor left me a voicemail stating that my "readiness exam" needed to be completed by Monday and if it wasn't my start date would then be pushed back. I completed all tasks and emailed my counselor and even acknowledged her voicemail stating that all tasks needed to be turned in by Monday and confirming my start date. She emailed me back and said she'd be in touch after she received the scores. Days go by so I log into my WGU portal to see that I have a new counselor. I emailed him and get no response. I set up a meeting and he calls me. I say what has happened and tell him about how my last counselor said I needed everything turned in by a certain date in order to start. He informs me that I can not start that date and must now start at a later date (He was very rude and abrasive and offered zero help). He informs me that me emailing is not good enough I need to call them. So now my employer thinks I no longer want this promotion and are now looking at other candidates. My new enrollment counselor said multiple times how they will NOT respond to an email (not sure why an online school does not respond to emails). Overall this has been a terrible experience and I am upset that I have signed up. You are better off with a traditional school that offers online learning/ evening programs. This is nothing but a gimmick. I do not recommend."
