"Ever wonder what acupuncture is like? Here's an example of my typical experience. Each session begins with time to discuss new or ongoing concerns and issues. The acupuncturist then places tiny needles in prescribed spots on the body. Some you don't feel at all. Some feel a bit electric when first inserted. Once all needles are in position and you're comfortable, a bell is placed in one hand for use should assistance be needed while alone in the room. The rooms are warm and relaxing music plays as you relax while the needles do their stuff. After about 20 minutes, the needles are removed. Sometimes the treatment is followed by a brief massage, "cupping" (look it up as that's another story!) or other additional treatment as your acupuncturist may prescribe such as herbal mixtures and remedies. A regular visit lasts from 45-60 minutes. The initial appointment takes longer as it includes a thorough review of all health concerns prior to treatment. I first came to Cissy's beautiful group in the early '90s. My jaw was inflamed following a dental visit and had been locked almost closed for several weeks. About 36 hours after my initial visit, the inflammation abruptly ended, and all was well. I was shocked. I recently returned to care for neck pain and am excited to write this review with my highest recommendation to the healers at Chinese Acupuncture Clinic. I am so happy to report that the practice is exactly as it was 30 years ago. Acupuncture provides a whole body approach to my physical and emotional issues.
