"Took my 2 year old at the time to Dr Dan Knechtel because his enamel was not strong enough and just falling off. He came in looked at my child’s teeth and could not have cared less. He put the stuff that turns your teeth black on his front four teeth mind you my child is 2 and will have to wear that on his smile till he looses his teeth. He gave me no option to say no to it. He told me it was that or nothing. No we are one surgery done with his front teeth having to be removed because of the horrible job Dr. Dan Knechtel did to my son. Himself his office and his staff are a joke."
"Horrible experience with this dentist. Other staff was friendly which is the reason for the one star. My four year old son has dental pain from a cavity and the dentist said that it's in his head. Completely unprovoked pain when eating multiple times and dentist says pain is in my child's head. Also stated our insurance wouldn't cover services to get to actually fixed when preventative oral health services are covered. Applied useless SDF medicine again in an attempt to desensitize the tooth, but all research on the medicine indicates it is close to useless for dental pain. Going on a month now of dental pain, hoping to find a dentist who actually cares. Would avoid if you want a dentist who is good around kids. TERRIBLE people skills."
"We’ve taken our children to Dr Dan for the past 5-6 years or so. My wife and I think he and his staff have provided excellent service. We’ve never waited in his office longer than maybe 10 minutes. When one of our daughters was no more than 6 years old he recommended sedating her to put in sealant (this is because it requires keeping the mouth open and still for a long time). We asked if we could try without and he was game to try—turns out she could manage without. Dr Dan is a pragmatic and matter-of-fact kind of guy and we believe has a good bedside manner. Our girls like him. We had been to one other local prediatric dentistry office and was much more impressed with Dr Dan even though the other place had stellar reviews. We highly recommend Dr Dan."
"Great experience for me and my kids. When we were greeted at reception Amy was very friendly and I was please to see that this office wasn't using paper for their patients' to complete their demographic and dental histories. -thanks for being green! Julie and Sheila were great with my kids and Dr. Dan and his assistants' did a great job explaining the treatment plans and the options available."
"If you are looking for a child-centered dentist with a conservative approach, this is probably not the dentist for you! Dr. Knetchel recommended a very aggressive cavity treatment plan for my 5 year old son that required out-patient surgery. He and his staff lead me to believe that his treatment plan (requiring sedation) was the only possible option. I sought a second opinion from another family dentist and was very surprised (and relieved) to find out that a more conservative, patient-centered treatment plan was available. Over the course of three visits, my new dentist has: put sealants on healthy molars in order to prevent cavitites (Dr. Knetchel will not put sealants on "baby" molars), treated existing cavities using white, natural-looking fillings, and is now carefully monitoring problem areas."
