"We have done an 8th grade field trip with Carolina Ocean Studies for about 8 years now. Richard, his wife and son, and the crew do an amazing job with the kids. Everything is organized, efficient, and they are so kind and helpful. We always catch a ton of fish and the staff are super helpful with the kids. It's a great trip and something so unique!"
"Great interactive experience for students middle to high school age. Lots of hands on activities and hits on 8th grade life science standards related to ecosystems and the hydrosphere."
"Our 4th grade class booked the Shackleford Banks experience and we could not have been more delighted. Carolina Ocean Studies was clear in their communication from the first time I reached out to them until the day of our trip. Our instructors were very knowledgeable and engaging. We had an amazing encounter with dolphins on the ferry ride over. Unfortunately, we did not see the Banker ponies (we knew this was a possibility), but honestly the whole experience was so amazing, it did not lesson our view of the trip. Will definitely return next year."
"One of the most amazing and educational field trips I have taken part in. The staff and instructors are knowledgeable and truly passionate about educating children on the coastal NC ecosystem. Children stayed engaged the entire time. Wonderful experience overall!!"
"A fantastic option for a homeschool friendly ocean studies trip. We got more than we expected out of the experience. We learned about 3 islands, did hand crabbing, saw the outer banks ponies, learned about estuaries, marshes, beaches, lighthouses, and more. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, gave clear directions, and organized the groups very well. Bring a lunch and water, wear closed shoes for safety. There is no waste pickup on the island so be prepared to take any of your trash back with you. There is a tip jar (easy to miss) on the ferry boats, don't be afraid to tip the ferry drivers they do an excellent job with pickup and drop-off."
