"Truly an amazing establishment, best restaurant on Tryon main street. Food is fresh, flavorful, and made with a lot of love you can tell. Amazing variety of wines. There is something there for everyone. Love both their brunch and dinner. Probably the best omelette I have had anywhere in my time. If you get the pleasure of meeting the chef and owner, she is an incredible woman with a passion and love for cooking and serving amazing food."
"What a slice of heaven right here in the foothills. Little hamlet, Tryon NC, how fortunate you are! A huge bowl of exquisitely prepared mussels in champagne and cream sauce with a salad and French baguette for $22. Fresh made linguine with mussels and shrimp in cream sauce $23. There was easily twice the amount of seafood in both of these dishes than what most restaurants would provide at twice or more the price! And, the quality is what one would expect only in the finest French restaurants in the biggest cities of the world. All of the amazing pastries are hand made on site. Enjoying great cuisine is one of our favorite hobbies and we have traveled the world on this endeavor. This is the third time we have enjoyed Marengo and I would stake our reputation as culinary snobs to state unequivocally that Marengo is one of the very best, a five star gem hiding in plane sight in the heart of rural NC."
"Had a really good time stopping last Sunday for lunch while on a motorcycle ride. Staff were all very friendly. Food came really fast and it was delicious! The management / staff rides Husqvarna’s & KTM’s so we had a good topic of discussion! Great convenient stop for all motorcycle riders."
"Owned by Chef Eloise Garcia, the restaurant is named after a French commander's horse, and one of his favorite post-victory meals, veal marengo. I ordered the Chicken Curry Stew made with white chicken breast, cream, yellow curry over secret recipe waffle. My wife ordered the Caesar salad which had romaine heart lettuce, shredded parmesan cheese, anchovies with homemade croutons. Both dishes had amazing flavors. The macaroons had a balance between sweet and nutty. Spanish and French food with their own twist. Offerings include the classic French-American breakfast and brunch that locals have come to expect from sister restaurant Cafe La Gaule. The tapas menu showcases Spanish cuisine that can be eaten as a meal or an appetizer. Wines from around the world are available."
