Reviews of Days Inn by Wyndham Charlotte/Woodlawn Near Carowinds
"Oh wow, let me tell you about my recent hotel experience! I decided to check out this new hotel, thinking it would be better than the Ramada. But boy, was I wrong! The location was so far from downtown, and there was absolutely nothing around for groceries. And don't even get me started on the room... it was not good at all. The mattress was especially bad, making it really uncomfortable to sleep. To top it off, when I asked for a late check-out at 12, the front desk said no! Can you believe it? It was so disappointing, just an hour difference. I couldn't help but feel let down. I hope you haven't had any similar experiences lately."
"One of the most terrible experiences I have ever had. I'll let the photos speak for themselves We booked the Jacuzzi room, which did not work. We booked the room. Left for a dinner we had paid for in advanced. Came back and just everything was bad. Clerk said since we have been "in the room" for hours they cannot refund our night. This was with people behind us waiting to check in for over an hour and the clerk ignored them. Terrible overall. Would not recommend even for a cheap price. Room smelled of smoke and weed. It was non smoking."
"I have never written a bad review but I feel as though I should write this to inform people & it could actually save a life or lives! I have visited many 3 world countries & have never felt more scared for my family as I did at the Days Inn by Wyndham! We literally stayed up all night because of men knocking on our sliding glass doors all night & at one point we actually opened our room door that goes into the hall because we were at the point of just wanting to get to the safety of our vehicle & leave. 2 men were passed out against our door frame so we couldn't get out. I started to call 919 just to see if we could get escorted to our vehicle safely but it was 4.30am by then & we thought if we could just make it until the sun came up we would then. When the sun came up we went to our vehicle & it had been broken into & things stolen including tools from the tool box in the back. I thanked the Lord for keeping my family safe a lady in the lobby came up to me & told me of her similar situation during her stay the night before. She was actually supposed to stay a week for her job in Charlotte but was checking into a hopefully safer hotel as we were leaving! If she sees this review I want to to know that I have prayed for her safety until she could leave the Days Inn. This was a last minute trip on business to Charlotte for my family & I didn't read the reviews. Please be cautious & please don't put your family in jeopardy by stay at this hotel. I even mentioned to the person checking us in the the hotel looked nothing like their website & she just grinned. That should have been my sign & we are very blessed that nothing sinister happens us during our few hours there! I wouldn't give this place any stars! Please, please don't don't make a reservation at this hotel & spend your time there wondering if you & your loved ones will be safe until you can check, it's not worth putting your family in jeopardy! If it would let me post without giving it a star I would have!"
"It is what it is. It's a motel to stay one night and leave after. However, I'm gonna make a few points: Service was the least of our problems. Having someone uncharismatic is one thing, but I think having a run-down hotel is not a good idea. Place looks and even feels like it's going bankrupt and cutting costs on the essentials. The 2.6 stars are rather dooming and I'm not helping either. There's likely some security violations too with building code as the freezing winter cold could get in and freeze us if the heater isn't functional. And mind I tell you this that broken or non-functional things is commonplace in this hotel. If you need to head out with a lot of belongings at 6am in the morning, you'd be locked out and forced to wait because all doors are locked at this time and check-out is as non-conventional as leaving the keys and going off your merry way. The room is functional enough for me to be forgiving on it, but I think the the items mentioned in the previous paragraph merit this one-star review. Otherwise, this review I could have been 2 or 3 stars since I was undecided, but endangering customers and potentially even locking them out of their room (that they paid too much ($80) for imo) and belongings is a no-no for me. So, to wrap this up, for who is this hotel best for? If you're not going to leave before 7am when "breakfast" starts and don't have too many belongings this might work, but you have to be very tolerant of low quality everything or at least not expect much from a sub-3 star Days Inn. It is the equivalent of a motel, if I can call it that. Best for one-night stays, so let your imagination fly. Smoking is apparently allowed in the first hallway after the lobby since the smell of cigarettes was lingering. I don't want to imagine what debauchery happened in my room for it to have smells and some things I've seen. So, with this said, let your imagination fly. For me, I wouldn't care if I had to return to the hotel, but I know many USAians (to not say Americans) are not as forgiving and would never return, and it shows. Hope this review helps."
"I hate to leave a poor review but this is quite honestly the most disgusting hotel I've ever been in. I checked in about 10:30 pm after almost 22 hours of traveling and was completely exhausted. The front desk clerk was polite. I walked into the room and could immediately tell someone had smoked in it . I saw right away no surfaces had been wiped down as there were multiple rings from cups on the granite surfaces by the TV and night stand. I put my bags down and closed the door and the batteries for the lock were hanging out. Went to the bathroom and found the toilet was gross and had not had a brush inside to clean it before I arrived with cigarette ashes and burns on the seat. There were 2 queen size beds in the room one had 2 pillows and one had 3 . You could see creases in only one pillow case indicating it might be a fresh case. There was blood on one beds white comforter. I pulled the sheets back on both beds to find one bed had what appeared to be ink pen marks and a couple hairs on the fitted sheet and the other had stains on the fitted sheet. The arm rests of the red lounge chair were filthy and the table lamp was rusty with the finish flaking off. I bent down to turn on the ac and saw that someone had wiped something on the curtains. I then checked the towels hoping to be able to take a shower and found them to look and smell clean. However the bath tub was not. I put the towel on the cleanest looking pillow and slept in my clothes. Had it not been so late and being so exhausted I would have called a taxi and changed hotels but it really wasn't an option that late at night. I'll never book at another Days inn again. I see the prices have come down since my booking which was $114.84 with tax and now only 3 weeks later only $52. I wouldn't stay there again for $2! I took plenty of pictures and will be contacting corporate offices."
