"Amazing views during sunset, even in the winter."
"I had no idea what hat to expect driving up the mountain, but when i reached the top i lost my breath and words. The view is absolutely amazing. You San see for miles and miles of mountains! The sunset was a beautiful sight. I absolutely recommend visiting this place!"
"One of the best overlooks on parkway to watch the sunrise. May get crowded during holiday weekends so recommend getting early to secure a nice spots. Same goes for securing a spot for taking photo or hyper-lapse."
"North Carolina is God's country. It's evident if you've ever driven the Blue Ridge Parkway. If you haven't been blessed to experience a drive in the clouds, without experiencing a natural fear of heights, here is the place. Sure, you're among the clouds, but there is so much more to riding along the ridge from Virginia, through North Carolina. South of Asheville, is a stretch that welcomes onlookers and sightseers from near and far. And as I have heard, the breathtaking gasps of even the greenhorn of mountain travelers. Just a day before my latest venture along the Blue Ridge, rain put a damper on most travel plans, but as my wife of three years put it, she wanted to "See the clouds". So on a mid morning jaunt up in the mountains, we found our clouds amid a very late summer Parkway excursion. We live not far from the winding road, but life tends to get in the way on occasion, so wandering for a few hours in our neck of the woods is an elixir of peace and tranquility that can't be found in the city. Pounding Mill Overlook is an example of how awestruck the sheer beauty of a balding rock can be. You'll find granite cliffs along the Parkway if you seek them, but there in the distance, a smooth surface, trimmed by the hands of God, stands out to all that pass by. Looking Glass Rock, best seen in the morning or early afternoon for visual purposes can be inspiring and creative among artists and poet's pens. Autumn approaches and the green leaves of summer will give way to a bright and colorful array of red, orange, and yellow before the curtain falls into winters mundane hibernation of foliage. Whatever the season, it never truly gets dull. It just brings a greater appreciation for color and life along the Blue Ridge and about the vast wilderness in the mountains of Western North Carolina. Sure, there are plenty of sights to see if you choose to take one of several exits along the way. Restaurants and accomodations to pamper your every need. As you may feel hunger pains in your travels, and your mouth waters for that perfectly grilled steak, juicy and tender, or the crispy crunch of southern fried chicken. Whatever you seek to cater to your hunger pains, you shall find in due time. But before you surrender to what drives your body, may I encourage you to feast your eyes upon the soul of the mountains, the Blue Ridge Parkway, a little slice of heaven, right here in our own back yard. You'll surely not regret it, and yeah, you can thank me later. See y'all up in the clouds."
"Gorgeous spot, almost 270 deg lookout. Would definitely recommend as the perfect picnic location. No tables or amenities, but the view is amazing."
