"After 4 years, the wood is splitting on the arms and back. Actually it started last year but is worse now. I put two coats of stain on them every year but am very disappointed in how they are holding up. I just now tightened a screw (carefully) and a whole chuck almost split off - see third picture. We had chairs in this same spot which were stained with the same stain every year and they lasted almost 15 years. And, they were from BJ's - so, not high quality. At this rate, I feel like we will have to replace them in a year or two. Also, the directions look like they were written by a kid and photocopied to put in the box. They were very vague. Maybe the 8th grader that was able to follow them easily, wrote them because 3 college educated adults all had questions on the assembly. Can't get pictures to load, so will try later. UPDATE 4-17-19 Plank in the seat of both chairs cracked in two when people sat in them. Wanted to support an NC business, but will end up tossing these in the trash after only 5 years."
"After eyeing these for the past 5 years I finally I purchased 2 Cranberry Wood Works River Chairs. They shipped fast and I just finished putting them together. I am so pleased with these chairs. The pine wood is the finest I've ever seen. There are no knots and sturdy thick planks are used. Like another reviewer stated you will need a Torx screwdriver for 4 screws. The rest are bolts and nuts which I used a ratchet for. The predrilled holes lined up perfectly. The rounded back and contoured seat make the chairs uber comfortable. I also purchased the footrests which added to the comfort. I don't understand the complaints of the negative reviews posted here. These are classic Andirondack chairs. They sit low to the ground. The wood is high grade and if properly treated and protected will last many years to come. I would recommend these chairs without hesitation. 2 months later...Still very pleased with the chairs. I painted them with 2 coats of enamel paint (new picture added). We've had quite a bit of rain in the last two months and they are holding up beautifully. My recommendation still holds!"
"We just purchased these adirondack chairs and are extremely unhappy with them. Although the chairs are made of adequate materials and workmanship the design of the chairs are awful. The front of the chair is very low to the ground and when seated a person's lower back is basically on the ground. It is an uncomfortable chair, and awkward and difficult to get seated and back out again. Be sure to assemble the chairs before deciding to stain or paint them, as you will most likely want to return them after you actually sit in one. This company does not have a place to write a review on their site and didn't care in the least that we were unhappy with the chairs. The pictures on their web site are misleading as they do not show how low to the ground you actually are when seated. I gave 1 star only because it was required but would give zero stars for a very uncomfortable chair."
"I ordered a pine river chair. It arrived quickly, the price is unbeatable, quality is excellent, and assembly was quick and easy. However, if your toolbox is limited, best to check on requirements when you call; I needed a Torx screwdriver and one with a square head. A standard wrench is also needed. I plan to order additional pieces. Although I prefer the look of natural wood with a clear finish, I will probably paint with an enamel to improve weather resistance."
"In January of 2013 we ordered 2 cypress river chairs and 1 cypress table. The cost was $314. Applied three coats of Cabot stain and surprise, surprise within a year all the wood is cupped which makes it difficult to set glasses on its surface. Our advice is not to buy these chairs due to the poor quality but also the amount of time it takes to assembly each chair and table."
