"They have gotten my order wrong nearly every time. Also overpriced. Only reason I order here is when I need soemthing to eat ASAP before class. But every time I order here it’s like playing the lottery. Slim chance I actually receive what I ordered. I’m sure if I asked the people to amend my order they would do it but there’s no time for that when I have class in 10 minutes. Also the place is quite busy on several occasions and it would take 6 years for them to fix your order."
"The last time I went to a North Carolina State Women’s Basketball game (11/15/23). I went next door to the student center to this Port City Java location to get an Iced Latte with sugar-free vanilla. It was not anything like what I am used to getting at the Port City Java locations in Wilmington. It had a very bitter/burnt taste. Hopefully, this was a one-off because I usually really love their coffee."
"I've only been to the one in Talley. I ordered a small hot chocolate and they charged me something outrageous like $10. I sat around for 30 minutes because I didn't hear them call my name. I didn't hear them shout anything at all, even though I was really close to the counter. They had a lot of GrubHub orders, but I was the only person waiting around for my drink so I was surprised they didn't try to get my attention and tell me my drink was ready. Finally I got up and went to look at the GrubHub orders to check that my drink wasn't there. I didn't want to interrupt the two people working behind the counter since they were busy making a lot of orders, so I waited around (in front of the register, not the GrubHub waiting spot) hoping they would ask me what I needed when they got a break. They didn't, so I got their attention and asked politely about my drink. They said it was probably on the counter and pointed to the far side of the register around the corner where there was a counter I hadn't even seen, which I didn't know to go to since it was my first time. So I finally got my drink and left and it was hands down the worst hot chocolate I've ever had in my life. I felt bad but I couldn't even finish it it was so gross. I know these employees are overworked and underpaid, but the service and quality is just really bad. I'd love to support a smaller chain, but you'll have a much better time at the Starbucks right next door."
"Everytime I visit Wilmington Port City Java is the first place I stop. I always get a large Mocha Shake and split it with my husband. My yellow lab really appreciated the nice lady giving him a pupachino."
"My new favorite coffee shop. Sure wish there were more locations. Their Iced Mochas are quite tasty and not as sweet as other chains."
