"I am so happy I came across La tapa lounge in Black Mountain. We have a second home in the area and we pretty much tried every restaurant in town. Some restaurants are great and some are not so much. La tapa is a bit of the main downtown area and it seems to be more popular with local crowd. I came here on Tuesday night when they have $3 taco night. Tacos were huge and delicious! The bartender offered me to try a couple of different IPAs to see which one I liked more. He was so friendly. I think this place is the best hidden gem in town. We will be back for sure."
"Had the folks in town from Colorado, so I decided to try something new. We were more than pleased with the food and attentive service. He was solid! The quality of main course options were plenty…and tasty, as well as the chef’s choice offering of a chorizo and rice stuffed pepper, which really fired up the taste buds. I’m excited to see what the next go round has to offer."
"We stopped here because they were open later than most restaurants. The food was great. I loved that they had live music in a separate room so we could hear each other, but also had the music softly in the background."
"Funky little place with great food, but the bill was confusing. First, I love the atmosphere. Outdoor dining is fabulous. Indoor is fun, you seat yourself, there’s a pool table inside, and some other interesting things. The servers were attentive. So much to like immediately. The food was very good. We had the firecracker shrimp and the patatas bravas. My husband had a burger that was cooked nicely and sweet potato side. The patatas bravas were very odd. I don’t know if they still have them on the menu, but it was just like getting an order of home fries at a breakfast place. And for some reason they charged us the price for the patatas bravas and then almost an extra dollar for the bravas sauce. The same thing happened with my firecracker shrimp taco. They charged me the price on the menu for the firecracker shrimp taco, and then almost an extra dollar for the firecracker sauce. I did not ask for extra firecracker sauce, and we did not ask for extra bravas sauce. It’s like they were charging us for the sauce that was going to come with it anyway. We found it very odd. But who wants to complain over a couple of bucks to the server, because that felt like it wasn’t really her fault if that was the pricing policy. So, if that is the pricing policy, you may want to examine it, because it’s just odd and a bit offputting. The margarita was excellent and cold and firecracker shrimp were very good. We would definitely come back, and not order the patatas bravas, and perhaps talk to the server first before we receive the bill to make sure we are not getting any unexpected charges. We live in North Asheville, and we often visit Chapel Hill, and sometimes we’re running really late and have not eaten dinner and don’t want to just grab food on the road. But we also don’t want anything fancy, because we really need to actually get on the road, so this was a lovely stop, and hopefully a bit of a tradition, when going to visit folks in Chapel Hill, if we are getting a late start."
"We drove up from Atlanta pretty late and were looking for a late dinner. The 24-hour Denny's was inexplicably closed, and I'm glad because it allowed us to find this place. The late night menu was limited, but some of the best fried calamari, fries and chicken tenders I've had, served quickly and hot. Plus the house-made margarita mix was super tasty! The wait staff was really helpful in making selections based on our preferences. We ate inside at a booth, but there was a jukebox, pool, darts and a large patio by the bar. Seemed like a fun place to hang out. Prices were very reasonable."
