"Wow. This was such a treat. We were going down a few exits just trying to find something other than fast food on our way back from a funeral in NC to TN. We stumbled on this adorable town and chose this restaurant. The crab cakes are full of meat. The country fried steak was exceptional. Best I’ve ever had. And those green beans and potatoes. Just wow. We will find an excuse to come back here!"
"I rarely give 5-star ratings, but this bistro absolutely deserves it. The food was fantastic, seamlessly blending modern culinary styles with a delightful southern twist in every dish. Each bite offered a burst of fresh flavors, making it an exploration of culinary delights. The attentive and friendly wait staff ensured our glasses were never empty, and our entrees arrived promptly after finishing the appetizers. The warm atmosphere and exceptional service made me feel right at home. Additionally, the breathtaking view of distant mountains added a Hallmark-like charm. I would highly recommend this place to anyone in need of a mood lift."
"Excellent variety / selection of dishes. Something for everyone. The food quality was outstanding. Will definitely go back."
"We made a last minute decision to go out to dinner on Friday night and, since our rescue dog has separation anxiety and we didn’t have a dog sitter, we had to find a place that was dog friendly. We chose Black Mountain Bistro. We’ve lived in the area for over four years and we’ve eaten in Black Mountain numerous times, but we’d never tried Black Mountain Bistro before. Now that we have, we’re kicking ourselves for having waited so long to try it. We really enjoyed it and I can assure that it won’t be four years before we go back. The weather on Friday was spectacular … a high of 78 and about 72 by dinner time … and perfect for an evening of outdoor dining. The patio at the Bistro is an excellent venue. You sit beneath a canopy of white oaks that block the sun and you’re far enough away from the road to where road noise isn’t an issue. The service rates an A+. The hostess said it would be a 15-20 minute wait, which was spot on. She walked us to our table and then stayed for a few minutes to dote on Maggie, our dog. Our server … Kelsey … was prompt and pleasant, and she too was a dog lover. She took great care of all three of us. We had the home made pimento cheese appetizer … hey, it’s the south and we love our pimento cheese. It was a very generous portion and we ended up bringing half of it home. Then, we both had Caesar salads that were the perfect size. My wife had a veggie flatbread and I had the spinach arugula rice bowl with grilled chicken. The food was really good. It wasn’t the ultra fancy high-end/high-dollar fusion cuisine you can find at many places around here, but it was delicious and very reasonably priced. I don’t know many places where you can enjoy a nice sit-down dinner with a couple of drinks, an appetizer, and two entrees for $75 (exclusive of tip). A family from Florida with three children in the 5 to 10 year age range were at the table next to us, so Maggie got a lot of petting and kisses from all three of the kids when they left. Some other guests stopped at our table over the course of the evening to pet Maggie and to talk about their own dogs. To be honest, I think Maggie enjoyed the evening as much as we did. So, good food, reasonable price, great atmosphere, and a bunch of friendly people … I don’t know what more you could ask for a Friday night meal. We’ll be back at Black Mountain Bistro soon!"
"Came for lunch after a day at the Biltmore grounds. Lovely outside patio. Brought both pets. Both entrees were delicious and the fried green tomatoes with the little potato croquette was a great starter. The staff was so friendly. Another gem of Black Mountain."
