"Played Mt Mitchell 7 years ago, the course was in great condition!! Our group played it a few weeks ago August 2023 and it was in terrible condition!! It didn’t look like the same course. The distant scenic views and meandering streams on the course was very nice!"

"We have played the course several times before. It us a great course mostly in the valley with terrific views of Mount Mitchell. The course was not as in good condition as in the past. The greens were good but fairways are in poor shape. We understand the new owners will be redoing all the fairways in the fall. Despite the conditions we stilled enjoyed the golf course and it’s challenges."

"Google seems to think this place is a hotel. It is not. It is a golf course open to the public. It is privately owned as a business venture. In early 2023 the course changed hands from the original owner (circa 1975) to new owner. I've played three times this year and will say that routine maintenance has improved somewhat, but the former owner let it run down and it needs a major rehab -- shut for a season and everything done over. The fairway grass (bent) has seen its better days and has bare spots and weeds that it should not have. The greens are slow, but the current owner seems to be maintaining for slightly faster speeds than the former owner. Bunkers need rehab. It's an easy course, virtually all flat in flood plains, if, and a big if, if you can keep your ball in the fairways. Because the fairways are soft, there is no ground game. A plus is that (weather permitting) the new owners allow carts in the fairways, which the prior owner hadn't since I've been playing here some since 1998 (although they are still using old scorecards, which have the cartpath-only rule printed on them. With adequate rehab it could be a very nice "holiday" course."

"This golf course has definitely lost a step used to be in a lot better shape under old management. Lots of bald spots in the fairway, carts running out of battery halfway through the rounds saw at least six getting towed back in from shop crew due to I guess not being properly charged the night before. And very rude members. If you are going to charge a premium to play this course I would expect the course to be up to higher standards to justify the price I mean 60-75 dollars come on. At least under old management the golf course was kept up this new management just screams of someone who had no experience but just wanted to own a golf course. Very disappointed"
