Reviews of Creekside Cafe
"Decided to come by with a group to grab some breakfast. I have to say we were especially intrigued after reading past interesting and incomprehensible comments..I noticed an individual posted a picture of food to which he ate the majority of, if not all of it. My group and I were quite bewildered as we noticed how he nick-picked everything, even though it seems to us he really must have enjoyed his food so much to go to the lengths to show his leftovers and scraps too. Now for my group’s experience; my table and I thought our meals were great! Overall we all enjoyed our breakfast and thought it was a great southern meal for these chillier days. I'd have to say we had absolutely no qualms with any of our plates of eggs, sausage or gravy. All of my party's eggs were delicious. We really enjoyed the biscuits too. They came out warm and fluffy! To our surprise and shock there was sausage in the gravy too. Who would have guessed!? ;) We were happy to find this cafe has a variety of appetizing home cooked meals. We finished and cleaned our plates and were so full! we will be back again soon!"
"Stopped here exclusively to try the biscuits and gravy with the intent to validate the one previous review on here that knocks it. Spoiler alert: it doesn't taste like dishwater. It's good. Is it a simple/thinner/white gravy? Yes. There's salt and pepper on the table. Staff was beyond friendly, the place was clean, and it was a cozy little diner. You can see into the kitchen from the bar and it's clean and they wear gloves. This diner exceeds expectations, and when we stop by again, we will visit :)"
"This was mine and my friends' first time visiting the area and were in town for a wedding. Some locals highly praised Creekside as their local go to for breakfast. We were looked forward to having a good southern breakfast. We drove by many other diners and could tell that we would have a wait regardless of which place we went with...So when we walked in and noticed they were quite full we did not make a fuss as that is understandable being a Sunday. We did not mind waiting at all. From the start the waitresses were so attentive and welcoming! My friends and I were so pleasantly surprised with the food and ambiance of the whole place. It was very nice and lovely. We loved the wide array of choices on their menu and ultimately decided to try their breakfast dishes. We all ordered a variety of foods. So we could all mix and match and try each other's plate! lol. We ordered eggs, omelettes, bacon, sausage, gravy. For dessert we had cinnamon rolls and those were to die for! We were more than happy with our meals, and we will be back again!"
"Title: A Disappointing Breakfast Experience I recently visited a local restaurant for breakfast with a companion, and unfortunately, our experience left much to be desired. We ordered a bacon breakfast sandwich with gravy and biscuits, as well as sausage patties, eggs, gravy, and biscuits. However, our patience was tested as we waited a staggering 46 minutes for what should have been a basic breakfast. Upon entering the establishment, it became apparent that cleanliness was not a priority. I sat at the bar, which offered a view into the kitchen, and I immediately regretted my decision. The sight alone should have prompted me to leave, but we decided to give it a chance. When our meals finally arrived, I was taken aback by their appearance. The gravy, in particular, was visually unappealing. Instead of the creamy white color characteristic of traditional gravy, it resembled grey dishwater. Though I attempted to taste it, I couldn't bring myself to consume even a single bite. The flavor was reminiscent of flour-flavored dirty dishwater, causing my stomach to churn instantly. To compound the disappointment, everything on our plates was served cold. While the eggs were dry but somewhat edible, I couldn't risk the possibility of food poisoning at this point. The sausage, with its gamy taste, wasn't the primary issue. Rather, it was the glossy, translucent film that cracked when I cut into it, leaving me puzzled as to its nature. It had a consistency similar to a glazed donut, but I can't assure you that it wasn't actual glaze. After reluctantly sampling a bit of the eggs, sausage, biscuits, and gravy, I decided to set my plate aside. The waitress, who had previously inquired if we were satisfied, didn't bother asking how we liked our food. It was clear that she already knew. Without hesitation, she promptly discarded my full plate, a fate it rightfully deserved. In all honesty, I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone, except perhaps the health department. The experience was marred by an excessively long wait, a lack of cleanliness, unappetizing food, and an indifferent staff. Save yourself the disappointment and seek out a more enjoyable breakfast spot elsewhere."
"When we are on the road we try to find "mom and pop" places to eat. This was an awesome find. We had the popcorn shrimp and the Philly cheese steak sandwich. Both were excellent! The staff was very friendly and helpful. They knew the area well and gave us excellent directions to where we were going. The restaurant was clean and neat. I highly recommend them!! If you're in Galax VA stop in for a great meal!"
