"I had to go here for a test today. Poor directions were provided as to how to get to the center. I was sent to the 9th floor where there a small office with two women and was then sent to the 7th floor where no one apparently knew where the room was. Patients need to either be accompanied or be better directed. I eventually found it on my own. The person administering the test was heaven sent. Wonderful bedside manners with those taking the test and with another patient who was lost (probably poor directions too). She made a three hour test bearable. Milka is the best! Clone her asap!"
"I've been chasing them down for every test result and I give up now. Their office is understaffed and the administrative assistants are overworked. I've been on hold for 25 minutes on several occasions, and hung up on. I don't get phone calls back, or answers to questions. They refused to speak to my insurance as well. It's been 2.5 weeks since my appointment and I haven't gotten test results, or referrals to other specialists as I was promised."
"This place is super disorganized and seems like their medical records are a mess. Even scheduling an appointment takes forever because they don’t have a record. I had a SIBO test scheduled and they didn’t call me to remind me of the appointment or the instructions - which I had received a print-of for but hadn’t saved. So I arrived for the SIBO test without eating a diet of chicken and rice the day prior (bizarre by the way- why chicken?). I’m going to give it another try with Dr. Lebwohl because, as a Celiac patient, I need help navigating. Dr. Green is a smug, condescending man, and a poor listener. I was shocked at his bedside manner - just terrible. Will review again when I return."
"I am a patient of Dr. Peter Green, who is the Director of the Celiac Disease Center at Columbia University. Dr. Green has improved my quality of life tremendously. Although I do not have celiac disease, he has been very helpful to successfully treat my other GI illnesses. He takes the time to listen to me about any GI difficulties that I have. He accepted my insurance, which is United Healthcare. It is easy to make an appointment with him, and the staff is very helpful in this regard. He is also the preeminent expert on celiac disease for those who think they may have CD or who need treatment. In summary, I recommend Dr. Green as an outstanding and caring doctor for diagnosis and treatment of GI illness."
"I called the center and told the person on the phone that I had genetic testing and other celiac tests including 2 EGDs that were "indeterminate". I asked them what the center could do for me to help decide on a diagnosis. The woman on the phone told me "they do different testing here", and that " the center would be able to help me" so I made an appointment. I got there and was thrown a bit off by the below standard condition of the office, but trying to stay optimistic I retained a positive attitude. First of all Dr Green doesn't see anyone any more unless they have Medicaid or Medicare ( I forget which one), so I was a bit leery about going at all since I wouldn't be seeing him. I wish I never went. All I got was a big waste of TIME and MONEY and more disappointment and loathe towards the medical community. The dr I saw was condescending and a little rude. She was bright, of course but didn't know EVERYTHING about celiac! I told her I had genetic testing and she insisted it get repeated because my symptoms were so severe , and she said that where I had the test may have been "lower standard". Dr. did warm up to me a bit after a few minutes and became concerned for other aspects since my symptoms were so varied and great. - so I will give her points for that. The dietician was really good, even though she did tell me I could use gluten filled lotions on my skin which seemed kind of weird to me to say..... After my appt. I got my test results and again showed the SAME genetic report of NOT having the "celiac genes"- so I was kind of pissed that I had to pay for that! along with double co-pays for the visit. Plus the HOPE that something might be found out so I can finally put to rest why I am feeling so terrible. So you see, my appointment was a HUGE waste of everything- including the drs time - since I already knew I didn't have the celiac genes and that person on the phone lied to me to just get me in there and spend money! whether it was a true lie or not is not the case since if this is the PREMIER celiac center should YOU KNOW to tell your receptionists that if you don't have the gene you can't have it ????? After all, that is exactly what I was told in your office when everyone's time and MY money was lost!!?? AFTER MY APPOINTMENT: I was told that my symptoms if not were celiac then were from my severe gluten allergy and that I could still receive help form the dietician on that, but when I called back and left several messages for her I never got a return call. This has been MONTHS. Yesterday I received a letter in the mail and had some high hopes that this was the possible way I was getting my return. Wrong. It was a letter from the foundation office, asking me for money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! to donate to the cause!!!!!!!!!!! UGH. I am so fed up with sham drs. with sham places!!! this place is a joke.! gen your own DNA test done and find out yourself! anyone can so that now and save yourself the heartache and headache that I went through."
