"I wish I had something more positive to say, but the short of it is that the counselor I saw was not a good fit and ghosted me. I first inquired about counseling and spoke with Krystal. I explained I preferred in person and evenings, and she assured me it wasn't a problem. We emailed after that and she asked if I had some daytime availability. My job is fairly busy, but I can find time slots. I was assigned to Denice. We only met twice. She was having a problem with the fact that I can rarely meet at the same day/time every week. I wish my work schedule allowed for this, but it does not. When we first met, she gave me some song and dance about how she does everything to make times that work for her clients (including meeting at 7am and 6pm). The two slots offered to me were afternoons on my busiest days (the days I work 12-16 hours, and to change my schedule, at least 3 weekly meetings would need moved and I would need to step down from a place on a community board). A big warning sign I regret not paying better attention to was during my first session when Denice's phone rang mid session and she muted herself to answer her phone. I felt like i was taking away from things she would rather be doing (side note: mentioned this to a few friends who are therapists and they said that isn't normal). Something that bothered me was that instead of focusing on what is currently causing issues for me, Denice wanted to just jump into some heavy trauma from my past that I did not want to talk about yet. I was only in my second session with this person and not ready to discuss child abuse or the loss of a child. I was told repeatedly by Denice that none of her other clients have a problem making tye same day/time work. I'm currently traveling at least once month for work and at least once a monthto visit my mom (my stepfather passed away a little over a month ago). Denice also claimed I could switch to another therapist at any time, but that was not the case. Apparently they can't do that right now. UPDATE- Abby, the head of the practice reached out to discuss my experience. I appreciate her taking the time to head me out. I had a few more issues with Denice that I did not mention here. She validated my feelings about Denice (and her gjsoting me seemed to genuinely cause concern). I still would not suggest Denice (or at least until she figures out some things) but think thr practice may be worth trying"
"I am not one to write a public review as I am a very private person however I am very grateful for Rising Lotus Wellness. I know everyone has a different experience, and I have to say mine has been positive and life changing. Abby specifically is a very kind person and she is very patient which I truly appreciate. She really gives a safe space for me to express myself without judgement and listens with intent to help! I also feel understood and that there is space to talk things through if there is a misunderstanding. I can say many things but I will leave it at how much I have grown as an individual in so many aspects since I have started therapy here!"
"Abby, the owner of Rising Lotus Wellness, is a fantastic counselor. She is particularly helpful in connecting with young adults, young women, Latinos, and lgbtq+ people. She has been particularly helpful when addressing cultural disparities, anxiety, depression, premenstrual dysphoric disorder, life changes, adulthood, and wellness surrounding chronic pain. Even via telehealth, Abby is personable and present in every appointment and she connects really well."
"I have been working with Abby for about 2 years now, and she has helped me tremendously. The tools she has equipped me with have improved all of my relationships, including and most especially with myself. Abby is compassionate and professional and understands when to push me to think a different way, and when to be easier on myself. She has provided a path that has included small steps toward healing that has improved my mental health. She is reliable and trustworthy and a very safe space to talk about anything."
