"Have been going here for a long time. There are no real facilities to speak of save for a few outhouses so be prepared. The setting and location are wonderful and the river that runs adjacent to it is a real bonus."
"It's a very clean primitive site with water and toilets. The sites are partially shaded. You're able to get to this site by kayak or with your car over sand packed roads. During the winter fall I could see this being an amazing secluded campsite. But during the summer the group sites can be very loud. So if you're going for fun this is an amazing park. But if you're trying to be out in nature with just yourself or your family it's probably better off peak season, the sites are a little close."
"Bodine Field campground was the perfect camping stop before heading down to Cape May for vacation. Make sure you reserve a site on the park's website beforehand. This particular campground had a bit of a bumpy dirt road drive to get to it, so be conscious of your vehicles' abilities. The pit toilet was fairly clean and I liked the distance between campsites. There was a bit of trash in the firepit when I arrived and the fire pit looked like it was run over. But! I simply took the trash with me when I left and notified the park staff about the firepit and they informed maintenance would take care of it. Camp neighbors took a bit to quiet down, but I had some very restful sleep and enjoyed the NJ pine barrens. Would have loved to go for a swim in the river if I had the time. Check this place out!"
"This is a great place for a brief getaway. I took my 11 year old daughter just so we could "unplug" for 24 hours. It was time well spent! We only live about a half hour away from Wharton State Forest and we hope to be back several times this year!"
