"First, it’s apparent as soon as you walk in to this office that they only care about pushing birth control and making money. The office is plastered with advertisements. Second, my experience couldn’t have been worse. I was recommended Dr Burns by my OBGYN after I had a miscarriage at 15 weeks and needed a D&E. He was extremely insensitive my entire consultation appointment and made jokes about how my body wasn’t ready to support a baby. His staff is worse. I had to correct the nurse and front desk person about my name pronunciation multiple times and they still refused to say it right. The nurse kept saying I was there for a routine check up which was absolutely not the case, as was indicated by my chart and me multiple times. The final time I said I was there for a consultation before my D&E, she looked chocked like she had never heard of a miscarriage and had no idea I was there for that. Fast forward to my actual D&E, everything seemed to go well and my experience at Chilton was good. I was warned I would have moderate to heavy bleeding for a few weeks but it would go away on its own. A week after my procedure, I had to be rushed to the ER because I was losing such an incredible amount of blood, I was in danger of cardiac arrest (I found that out at the hospital). I had such severe cramps, I blacked out in the ER intake. Turns out, Dr Burns failed to remove the entire placenta from my body during my procedure, along with “most of the conception tissue,” according to my ER doctor. So somehow, despite being “practiced” in fertility and OBGYN medicine, Dr Burns somehow missed THE ENTIRE POINT OF MY PROCEDURE, which was to remove my baby/conception products after my miscarriage. This quack managed to miss the ENTIRE PLACENTA. This guy should retire or have his license revoked. I could have died because this man is an incompetent moron. AVOID AT ALL COSTS."
"I was a patient here for about three or four years, a recommendation from a coworker, who was very happy here. I had a very different experience. I was concerned about my fertility, which I was assured I was “probably fine”. Then when I was told I wasn’t fine and got emotional the doctor “couldn’t not speak with me” because I was being “too emotional”. Sure, nobody cries when they find out they’re infertile."
"In all fairness, I’ll discuss the positives and the negatives. It doesn’t seem like he wants to do OB anymore, and dropped me from his service at 21 weeks pregnant. He said that he had a vacation planned, and doesn’t want to do new moms anymore. He only delivers 6 babies a year, and would only do it if I was high risk or if we could schedule an induction (I’m neither of those things). It was clearly not a new thing, and I’m left scrambling to find someone I like. 2 weeks later, I still don’t have a doctor. I may have to just settle. Obviously, I wouldn’t fault someone for having a life and planning a trip, but a heads up (since this was known for a while by the doctors), would have been nice. He said he takes most people to the 20 week mark and sends them elsewhere. Most doctors won’t take me now due to being further along at this point. If I knew from the beginning, I could have planned better. I also don’t love how the office seems to push IUDs. My experience with it was beyond terrible, but I do get that it was medically considered the best option for me at the time. I do wish we discussed the mini pill as a valid option beforehand given how scared I was of the IUD (ultimately ended up on the mini pill for years). I will say that everyone in the office has been kind, and that it is easy to schedule appointments, even last minute ones. They do remember the small details of your life, and are friendly as well. Ultimately, I just can’t recommend them to anyone considering getting pregnant since you will probably be dumped."
"My wife has been going to Dr. Burns for years. In the last couple years we were trying to have kids but were having trouble conceiving. Prior to recommending a fertility specialist, his initial advice to her was to get a divorce. Let that sink in. A few months later we're pregnant, and she thought that she should continue going to him since she has been for years and he knows our situation better. He ordered every test under the sun. Lab Corp even admitted to us that most doctors don't order so much because many of the tests are outdated and redundant but Dr. Burns "likes to order everything." One of these redundant tests sent us a bill for over $1,200 after insurance. When she went back to him for the follow up appointment now 5 months into her pregnancy he told her that he wont be delivering her baby, and that she needs to find a new OB. The reason he gave was that he doesn't like to get up early for these things anymore, and he's had a vacation planned for that week for some time now. He knew he wouldn't be delivering our baby, but was happy to string us along for 5 months ordering every unnecessary test he could to line his pockets before we leave. I hope you are reading this Dr. Burns. You clearly are in this business for all the wrong reasons. People go to you seeking help, and you take advantage of them to feed your ego and greed. You should be ashamed of yourself. Please do the community a long overdue favor and retire already."
"I've been a patient of Dr. Burns for almost 13 years. He is by far my absolute favorite Dr. I dread the day he retires. I hope it's a very long time from now. In addition to my yearly check ups, I had 2 procedures done by Dr. Burns. One changed my life for the good just as he promised. His bedside manner is fabulous. He just makes you feel comfortable and at ease. He is so thorough. He doesn't rush through the appointment. He answers all my questions clearly. He is truly interested in my health and well being. His staff is excellent. They all run like a well-oiled machine. I recommend him to everyone who asks and they are not disappointed. i love Dr. Burns!!!"
