Reviews
"It was an interesting experience with the warm French bistro vibe but like others have said, it's a bit gimmicky like a theme restaurant (but less tacky). The service was also quite slow in getting to take our orders. All that said, food is the most important factor on whether I would return to a place and it's a toss up. The salad was okay, the steak not great, but the fries were fantastic. Thin but fulfilling, crisp and potato-y: some of the best fries I've had in a very long time. I could have eaten a third helping but they only fill up your plate twice."
"Embarking on a Monday evening steak adventure, we planted ourselves in front of this French delight in NYC at a daring 4:45 pm. The "no reservation" policy had us feeling like early birds, soon joined by a hungry flock lining up behind us. Promptly at 5:30 pm, the doors swung open, and we were ushered into a sleek, French-maid-infused ambiance. The steak and fries, adorned with a special sauce, were a carnivorous dream. Each slice was a masterpiece, making my taste buds sing. The walnut salad brought a burst of freshness and crunch, and a selection of five cheeses added a sophisticated touch. A well-paired bottle of wine elevated the experience. When it came to desserts, the meringue tower and creme brulee were exquisite finales to an already impressive meal. This French haven doesn't just offer a meal; it crafts an experience. For those seeking an affordable yet high-quality steak affair in the heart of NYC, this is a culinary journey worth taking."
"Quick note, if you don’t like Dijon mustard, this place is not for you. The steak sauce and salad dressing are both mustard-based. I lined up 25 minutes before the restaurant opened on New Years and just made the first wave of customers to be seated. I got in by 6pm. If you don’t make the first wave, you’ll likely have to wait another hour+ for people to finish eating. The meal was average. The portions are very small, the food was served borderline cold, and the seating was tight. My second refill of steak was 3 thin slices. The french fries tasted like any fries you order at a local pub, but because they’re serving it to you from large trays that are set aside, they don’t always get served fresh. I will say that the steak was cooked perfectly. I ordered rare. They don’t do medium rare, only well-done, medium, rare, and blue. The creme brûlée was good but had a burnt after taste. Parts of it were also watery. The $35 price is very fair, but I wouldn’t come here again. It’s not worth the wait."
"I waited in line for about an hour and forty five minutes in the rain the try this place. The food was really yummy. You get 2 plates the first one has stale and fries and the second plate has half the size of stake and fries. For me it was pretty filling. The restaurant was packed when we were there so the tables were extremely close. It was a cool experience and I think once was enough times for me but I recommend going at least once."
