"Coney Island YMCA does not abide by their own protocol, and is biased against certain race and hair texture as far as what is permitted in taking care of your hair. I was told by the manager at 1513 PM on 8/15/23 that my shampoo that I used for my hair was not “normal” therefore I could not use it. The protocol clearly states the you can’t dye your hair. I have sister locks and was told not to use dye or rinse it my hair but was recommended to use a color change shampoo. So everyone else comes in wash their hair, blow dry, and style their hair but I must leave the gym with my sweat drenched hair, unable to wash it. If this is not bias I don’t know what is."

"This YMCA IS a Great Place If you like to swim they have a Pool. It’s good to exercise. And it’s fun Activity there"

"It's officially back open!!! The best Y in the outer boros. New facility with a staff that cares. They are currently open with shortened hours while they get back into full swing. Free month for October 2021 for all existing Coney Y members."
