"Great schools are comprised of exceptionally committed and devoted communities of faculty, staff, students, and parents. The School of the Blessed Sacrament has all of this and more! From morning drop-off to singing at daily assemblies, the energy for learning is shared and lived throughout. Celebrating 120 years as a school is a milestone in this day and age! Bravo to the School of the Blessed Sacrament!!"
"Living in a big city, it's sometimes a bit hard to find a sense of community. The moment we walked into School of the Blessed Sacrament, we knew we had found it! This school has been beyond amazing for our daughter, and we have found peace of mind. Caring teachers and staff, rigorous academics, wonderful resources, and a great setting are just some of the amazing characteristics of SBS. We love being part of this close-knit school "family," and the enthusiasm of the kids AND their families speaks volumes! We love SBS!"
"My mother enrolled me in Blessed Sacrament's kindergarten when I was five years old. I spoke no English, only Spanish, and cried everyday because I missed my mother. I was bullied throughout elementary school, and continued to cry on the first day of every new year because I missed my mother. By middle school, the student who had bullied me was also my best friend and someone I would trust with my life. (Still to this day.) In eight grade, I founded the school's student council and was shortly elected its President afterwards. We didn't do much and I'm not sure if the council is still a thing. Some of the students who know me at the school call me Mr. President when I visit. Even though some of the years I spent at this school were the worst of my life, some of them were the best. You'll find the best teachers you could ever wish for here, people who find purpose in teaching and do a great job at it. The alumni of Blessed Sacrament can be found in some of the finest High Schools in the New York City area. I'm currently a sophomore at the Jesuit College Prepatory school of Dallas. Even though I'm 1,500 miles from Blessed Sacrament, I still carry my graduation ring with me and wear it occasionally. I stay in contact with my friends from my class still and we all have the same opinion. This is the best school in New York City."
"This is our second year at Blessed Sacrament. We are parents of a first grader and soon to be preK student. We came across the school two years ago when we decided to stay in the city past the preschool years. Our oldest was about to enter Kindergarten and while we are zoned for a decent public school on the UWS, we had concerns about the large(r) class sizes and the individual attention our child would receive. Blessed Sacrament has exceeded our expectations. The administration has been welcoming and responsive. The former vice principal, who is now the current principal, knew our child and family within the first months of school. As a new parent to the school, the families have been warm and inclusive. The student body is diverse which was important to our city-based family. There are a good mix of families with two working parents and we have never felt excluded from other parents if we couldn't make some activities. We are so pleased with the school that we are moving our younger one from a private preschool next year. We looked at several schools that wouldn't break the bank for two children and would give us what we wanted/needed. We encourage you to do the same with Blessed Sacrament."
"In this NYC world of high priced private schools, aggressive charter schools, overcrowded public schools, the School of the Blessed Sacrament is a hidden gem on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. It is It is a Pre-K3 through 8th Grade Catholic elementary school. This school truly celebrates diversity and strong ethical values. We have students from all over Manhattan and the outer boroughs. The faculty teach with kindness and care, aiming to foster Christian leadership, individual responsibility and service to those in our community and beyond. I personally feel that it is important to not just raise children to achieve great test scores and high grades but to help them become complete human beings. Blessed Sacrament has a rigorous curriculum and has achieved test scores competitive with other top Manhattan schools. However, SBS distinguishes itself from other schools as the students are all raised to become responsible members of the community. They are taught to embrace responsibility, how to respect and care for others and how to respect and care for themselves. In this crazy world where all of life is getting played out on social media and other technology outlets, it is a welcome change to take my children to a school that in nurturing them as a person. They are taught values that mirror what I teach in the home. The parent population is strong as a community, along with the high-quality teaching staff. I am proud to call Blessed Sacrament home for my two children for the last 3 years (starting PK4 through now 4th grade)."
