"I needed a new crankset put into my bike. I received good common sense advice to my questions. Steve did an excellent job with the installation and the bike was returned the next day with tires full, gears tuned, and brakes centered. I took the tires off to bring the bike to the shop, so I know they centered the brakes. The bike was returned in excellent condition. The shop is highly recommended, and did an excellent job."
"Best bike shop I have ever dealt with. Every time I get my bicycle worked on, it feels like it is brand new. Prices are incredibly reasonable and Mike (owner) is fantastic to work with. I feel very lucky to have a reliable bike shop in my home town. AAA+++"
"I drove my 50+ year old 3-speed bike over to see if I could buy new pedals, and they were able to put them on as I waited on the sidewalk. Also asked about buying a mirror and new handle grips, which they also offered to put on, all for minimal labor charge. I know how busy bike shops are now, and really appreciated the immediate service. Will definitely bring my bike back for its tune-up. Thank you Stephen!"
"Maybe the purchasing experience is different than the service experience. I had 2 bikes that needed repairs, one needed new tires and needed a derailleur. I tried to call the shop twice, voice mailbox is full, no one picks up, no way to leave a message. I look at the website under the service & repair section, it says "No need to make an appointment! Drop off your bike today!". I drive 30 minutes lug the bikes to the front of the shop (no one is allowed in). A young man about 17 or 18 comes out and I tell him what is wrong with each of the bikes. He says he wont be able to look at them, or take them! He goes back into the shop and comes out to hand me a card saying to come back sometime next week to drop them off. Why not take them now? I have to come BACK to bring them to you, and then wait addition time for them to be fixed? The older person in the shop who was repairing never came out, except to look at a bike of someone that he knew. Extremely frustrating. I then angrily called a place called "Petal Sports" in Oakland. A helpful person answered the phone immediately and told me to bring the bikes over and someone would look at them right away. They had more people lined up at the store than Wyckoff, but managed to apologize to everyone for the delay (which wound up being only a 5 or 6 minute wait). The gentleman that helped me was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. They gave me price estimates and took both bikes on the spot. A few suggestions for better customer for Wyckoff: - Clear your voicemail and either create an informative message if you are not able to see people, or have someone pick up the phone and tell people to come in next week if you cant accommodate them right away. - Take off the "No need to make an appointment! Drop off your bike today" message from the website if it is not what you are able to do. I may have caught them on a bad day, and I don't mean to trash a small business, but it was an incredibly frustrating experience. I get that bicycle repair and sales are going through the roof with the pandemic, but don't forget to treat every customer like they matter. Take notes from "Petal Sports" and get your act together!"
"They're AMAZING here! The derailleur on my bike broke (probably from misuse on my part) and they fixed it in a matter of minutes for a very fair price. Highly recommend! (Not my bike in the pic!)"
