Select Specialty Hospital - Wilmington

"It's been more than two years since I experienced one of the worst periods of my life at this horrible place. There were a few good nurses and PTs but on the whole it was deplorable. They forgot about stitches that needed to be removed and tubes that needed to be removed. They don't deserve 1 star but in order to leave a review I had to leave at least one. Don't send your loved ones there ever."

"There are a few good nurses and techs but overall the nursing staff does not care about their patients. I had to wait up to 2 hours for a nurse or tech to respond to the call button. Now their drs. are very professional and you couldn't ask for better. But overall I wouldn't go there a second time not even on my death bef."

"I don’t recommend. Each day there was an issue. The communication is lacking, as in they don’t communicate with the family nearly enough and they don’t communicate with Christiana Care when they transfer/admit patients there for any length of time. Overworked nurses with way too many patients, and the place is clearly understaffed…which is bad considering all the patients are critically I’ll. A few nurses and CNAs were great, though not many. Strapping patients to the bed is unacceptable. Sadly my close relative passed away while there, and even after that the doctor gave even the funeral director a hard time by not signing the death certificate in a timely fashion, causing us additional grief. Unless you can be there for most of the visiting hours each day to advocate for your loved one, I would try to seek another facility."

"My wife was sent to Select after covid pneumonia with a tracheotomy and ventilator from an ICU that was not able to wean her from the vent after several weeks of trying. The doctors and respiratory therapists at Select were all excellent and had her breathing room air in 2+ weeks...I did not think it was possible. The physical therapists were also very good. Most everyone we were in contact with were caring and compassionate, and responded quickly. We highly recommend Select for ventilator weaning."

"Place for people to pass on. A relative was ill. The local hospital got her stable and after 6 weeks or so transferred her here for rehab. Wouldnt allow visitors which tore her and her husbands hearts apart. They let her husband in after multiple attempts . Thank you to Donna. she i believe was a administrator, and she was great and a good person and without her I dont think they would of let him back in to see her. Her husband felt a couple of the nurses were good. But the majority were not, they couldnt dress some wounds right due to lack of supplies and Due to the general lack of care she passed. She may not of made it anyway due to age, and general health . but they were a acute care facility, and if she was going downhill she should of transferred back to ICU. they didnt and too late. Lake of care cause a very good person to leave sooner than expected."
