"Kuei Luck is a great school. The teachers and staff are supportive, resourceful and dedicated to each child’s development and growth. Although the beginning of the 2023 school year was a bit disorganized due to leadership changes, the school has since been on track and has tried their best to communicate with parents, obtain feedback and make improvement. The interim Director Shuangye is organized and responsive. The Head of School Laurie is readily available if you need help. We have also had good experience with the owner Kevin – he connected us with someone in his network when we needed a recommendation for our child and one time our child left his favorite stuffed animal at school on a Friday. After a difficult night, we contacted Kevin on Saturday morning and within a couple hours, he found it in school and dropped it off at our building! Overall, we feel that every one at the school is well-intentioned and caring."
"Our child has really enjoyed the experience at the kuei luck. She has built a great group of friends and all of the teachers have been very supportive. Our child is learning both English and Chinese here which is great. We love to see all of the daily activities that they do, including creative sensory activities, outdoor walks and interactive experiences like yoga, soccer,0and interacting with animals. The administrative staff has also been very supportive and responsive to any inquiries. We really appreciate working with Miss Shuangye and Ms Collette and Ms Chloe, and Ms Dana. And in the year before that all the teachers from 1st year Ms Felicia and Ms Nehime, and Ms Farida. And Ms Johanna and Ms Melissa. We are planning to put our child into 3K here, fingers crossed!"
"We have been with the school for 2 years now, and objectively speaking, as a newer school in the neighborhood, it is generally headed in the right direction. Our child has really enjoyed making friends and going to school, which is why we tolerate some of the inconveniences. We transferred from another childcare center in the same neighborhood (due to DOE closure of the other center) so have one point for reference. What we like: - We've had a variety of teachers at KL, and have particularly loved Ms. Carol, Ms. Annie, Ms. Kate, Ms. Jennifer, and Ms. Daisy as homeroom teachers. They are organized, communicative, interactive, and my child also loves these teachers. I have no concerns about the education provided. - The school recently implemented the ability for parents to pick up the child via individualized pins at the first set of double doors and a fingerprint system at the third door before the classrooms. This is a huge time saver compared to the previous system of standing outside and waving at someone, then indefinitely waiting. - There has been unusually high turnover in directors. The previous directors have been difficult to work with, but the current director, Ms. Shuangye, has been all we've wanted. She gets the job done, and for us, the luxury of having the school days be business as usual with no surprise is all we need. - We've met a great parent community that we'll maintain relationships with long after our child moves on to the next stage in his education. - Mandarin immersion is a great bonus. - 2 meals a day + snack provided, but also pack extra snack for those staying for an extended day. - Facilities are clean. Areas for improvement: - While the departures of the previous directors were for the better, we hope that management can retain the current director. - Starting Sep 2023 the school has early dismissal planned for the 3rd Friday of every month for staff development. Parents are not informed of what developmental sessions take place, but this is highly inconvenient for working parents without nannies. It seems that management has decided to pass the burden of investment in their people to the parents, which is disappointing. - Extended care enrichment programs have changed from 2022-2023 to 2023-2024 (third party provides for the full week previously to inhouse providers for half the week now) and would suggest there has been either budget slashes, lack of planning, or both."
"We absolutely love the teachers and staff in KL. Our teacher Felicia, Johana and Emily are wonderful! My baby looks forward to going to school everyday, and always call the teachers name when he is at home. They did change directors quite frequently. Hopefully this situation can be improved."
"We went to KL for 3K. Our teachers, Pam and May, are absolutely wonderful. Other than our teachers; the school is just awful. The school has had 3 different directors for 3 different school years since it opened its door. The new director literally came on board 2.5 weeks before school started. The owner Kevin Kung is simply unpleasant to deal with."
