"For most of you who are thinking of applying, do not bother wasting your time filling out an application for any volunteer position, especially the HELP (Hospital Elder Life Program). I applied for the volunteer HELP position last year, and was rejected by human resources along with Dhyana Velez, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital's Geriatric Coordinator. Their reasons for rejecting my application remain unknown. But what I do suspect is that in their eyes, I did not meet their specific applicant type criteria (non-disabled, gifted and talented, medical school applicant belonging to a certain ethnic group, etc.). Although cliche, there is a saying: It is not what you know, it is who you know."
"If you're feeling suicidal don't go to this hospital. Staff are unprofessional and want to fight. They let me use my phone , and my case got damaged. They said security might reimburse me, security came and told me that I wasn't supposed to be on my phone anyway. A nurse assaulted a patient. They talked about calling the cops, cops never came. This hospital needs to get shut down. It's ghetto. This hospital is the worst. I'm eating a sandwich and hear a 76 year old man getting anema right next to me. Good luck getting sleep, as you won't with the drama and the snoring from patients. Room service takes hours to come. This is the worst."
"I’m surprised with the bad reviews. I’ve had my wife treated on this hospital. She had a stroke and I can say that the physician team have done all the right and in time steps to save her and, most, gave her a chance to have a normal life after. About stuff and nurses, I only can say that all of them are angels. Passionate and committed people in give the necessary care and love to my wife. I’m grateful and thankful to God to directed us here."
"I would give 0 stars if I could. The nurses at this hospital have done nothing but cause damage to my grandfather with Alzheimer’s. He went in not being able to walk and all they keep doing is sedating him because he gets agitated because of his dementia. The first two days he was there none of the nurses gave him his medications. They only started giving them to him because my grandmother asked the nurse about them and she said “what medications?” The nurse even asked me what they were when I went to visit. He now has pneumonia which he did not have when he went in. He still can’t walk. He is not able to properly swallow anymore. He is nothing like himself anymore because all they keep doing it is drugging him up because they are lazy and do not want to deal with his dementia. The PT came in yesterday to try to help him walk and the nurses never redid his catheter or oxygen reader which I had to ask the nurse to do multiple times. I was able to get him to sleep with NO drugs last night by being patient and compassionate with him which these nurse are incapable of doing. All of the nurses are rude and dismissive. My grandfather was trying to pull himself out of bed so I was pushing the emergency button for help and no one came until I went outside and yelled for help while they all stared at me and sat on their phones. I heard the alarm going off and they just ignore it. The Dr ordered for him to start being weened off oxygen yesterday and the night nurse put it back in at night because she didn’t read the chart. Today the Dr realized the nurses were giving him his night time meds in the morning so he has been sleeping non stop. These nurses do not deserve their licenses. They do not communicate with each other when they switch shifts and do not read the patient charts. You can tell they are only there to collect their check. Terrible cold hearted people working here. DO NOT BRING YOUR LOVED ONES HERE!!!!"
"Horrible experience today during the visit in RWJUH. My mother was sent with a possible stroke and never had done MRI. Doctors said she refused and I can not advocate for her, because if I will I am not be able to enter the unit. ????? Really, who can advocate for our family and friends? Doctors said they do not feel like she had a stroke, on what kind base is the feeling? This is knowledge of evidence-based practice with the best and centered patient care."
