Reviews
"Edit: my original review was for when this was Brooklyn Harvest. Now that it is Foodtown I find myself in here once a month, if that. It just isn’t the same. Prices seem a lot higher and sales aren’t as good. We really didn’t need another Foodtown, Brooklyn Harvest was better. I think it's a great addition to the neighborhood. Sure it's another supermarket but better that than another nail salon or pizza shop. The quality vs the prices are pretty good. Some weeks will have better pricing/sales than others(like any market really). They have a good variety of items in case you're limited such as lactose free dairy and gluten free items. When they first opened their seafood game was strong, good quality and good price. Since then it's fallen a bit and prices remain relevantly high and quality is OK. Never gotten sick but for the price I expect more. When they do get squid rings(Calamari) they're the biggest you'll ever see! The produce is my favorite. Beautiful berries, peaches, pineapples, and the mot gorgeous avocados ever! The staff, managers, cashier's, stockmen, are all wonderful. Everyone is friendly, helpful and organized. The store is always clean and we'll stocked. Baked goods and cold cuts always fresh as well as meats and seafood packages very well(never leaked in my bag). I find myself in here multiple times per week. It's nice, big store with lots of selection and great sales."
"Never buy anything labeled Brooklyn Harvest, before you not only check the date, check the list of items that are supposed to be packaged in said packaging. Especially the Italian sub not only do they not put what is labeled its bone dry. It clearly states there is dressing on the sandwich and when you bite into it ,nothing. If you want a great Italian sub ask the deli guy, he makes one mean sandwich, never disappointed. In the produce department, don’t get too excited about buying already chopped peppers and onions for a quick meal (it’s either spoiled or out dated, soup greens are always missing items as well. When you ask it’s either they don’t speak English (produce employees) or front end manager (JELSON) or the POS person (Adrianna) or the cashier ( Leticia) blaming the Astoria location (26-14 2nd St.). It’s a shame that this location can’t keep up with their products and blames someone else. When you ask to speak to the manager you’re told he is on lunch (it’s his personal time."
"This is the only store that I’ve ever seen hot banana peppers in. I’ve lived in NYC for over 20 years and I am so happy to finally find them (sometimes). The jellies and olives are also high points of this store. I don’t go here for all my groceries but I go here first because I love this store."
"It’s all good but why is the AC temperature as if you were in Patagonia? The staff is layered 2-3 times in August with beanies and hoodies. And they clearly show signs of discomfort."
"Check your receipt - I routinely don’t get charged the sale price - they seem to have some challenges with their system. Otherwise it’s a great store - I just wish they were better at charging the prices items are listed at on the shelves."
