"They need to shut down this salon. Walk into the place as I booked ahead and staff is in back staring at you and chatting to each other in Japanese. Not sure where to go as they should come to front to greet you. Instead I was made to go to back of place to seek them out not other way around. Very rude service. Haircut was awful. Kumi cut my hair. Didn’t do what I requested and just decided to give me lots of layers even though I said not many layers bc my hair gets messy. She thought she knows better regardless if customer is happy. We are the ones that are paying and have to live with the haircut each day. Don’t go here. Rude staff, untalented stylists, I doubt they are licensed hairdressers. More like Japanese young students on a visa just staying in NYC to have fun. I will go back to Sei Tomoko as they have been professional for years. Shame my old stylist there left."

"Everyone there is polite and respectful! Unfortunately after washing it and drying it at home the ends were a little too blunt and uneven that the post-cut styling masked. I’ve had long layers for most of my life and got the recommendation to go from the “V” shaped back to the “U” shape, but instead it looks and feels like a straight line blunt chop, which kinda hangs like super thick curtains and is unflattering for my face :( super sad because I’m not in the area anymore and will need to go someplace else to get it fixed"

"Extremely rude and unprofessional receptionist woman. Don’t recommend. They have attitude and treat customers badly. Never received such rude and condescending customer treatment in my life. Hair cut was not great and color was average. There are tons of better hair salon in Manhattan with better service and much better customer treatment."

"Great first experience at this salon. I was looking to try a new salon for both haircut and color last Friday and I was enticed by the reviews here and called them if I could be accommodated the same day, should they have the availability. Lucky they were able to immediately squeeze me in at 2PM for a haircut with Miki and a haircut consultation with Virginia with the actual color to be scheduled. Turned out to be even better. Miki's haircut was really nice + she's also just wonderful. I ended up being convinced to cut off 3 inches to make my hair lighter as well. As for the color consultation, Virginia was great and actually ended up accommodating me right away because she finished her other job earlier. So from 3:30-7PM, she diligently worked to deliver the beautiful ash highlights that I wanted! So precise and has attention to detail, love her! The salon also enforces strict health and safety protocols on temp checks, asking you to wash your hands first, cleaning the chair for you as the next person to sit, and the owner also has a check in the next day to ask how your overall experience was. I paid $330+close to a $100 for tips but could have been more expensive if I wasn't extended a 20% off as first time customer. Yep they're not cheap but you get what you pay for. Look forward to coming back for my next appointment! :)"
