Reviews
"Excellent green curry that truly lives up to its promise of being spicy. The restaurant provides a cozy and somewhat warm atmosphere and charges fair prices. Although they accept cash and, for some reason, Amex only. The in-house ATM (not operated by the restaurant) charges a fee of 5 USD which is horrendous, so bring either cash or your dusty old Amex."
"This place is a hidden gem and I hope it stays that way. It's cozy, it's always packed, but it still feels warm and inviting. Other reviews were harsh on the service, and they did feel a bit understaffed and busy, but were friendly and attentive both times I went. People really talk up the pad thai, but I didn't love it. I did get some other items that were really great and worth calling out: -Sweet Potato Fries with Worcestershire sour cream: Hard to make cohesive with other dishes, but it's worth it for that dip. -Coconut Curry Noodle with shrimp: I want to drown in this curry, flavor was excellent and the udon was really good quality. Shrimp is probably the right choice for all these dishes. -Spicy Green Curry with tofu: I was worried it would be too spicy but this was just right. Probably would not get it with tofu again since that was a bit bland/spongey."
"Something about Lovely Day makes it so cozy, understated, and such a great place for dinner. My love for Thai food meant I have some very high expectations, and this place did not disappoint. It is hard to define Lovely Day in the first place. It is, for sure, not trendy. But despite its dim & aging interior, it is not mundane either. In fact, the crowd we've seen is still overwhelmingly the young and hip Nolita type. They approved this over $60 brunch? Unknowable universe! This place passed my curry test for how spicy it was. I did not see this coming - it was disguised as a green curry, which is typically less spicy than red curry. What kind of chili was that? They also make some of the best Pad Thais out there. It has a chewy texture coupled with the distinctive sour taste that saves it from being too dense, a mistake many Thai places make too often. Coupled with the coconut milk soup and you just had a happier dinner than you might ask for. I heard many locals longed to keep this place a secret, and I can see why. But seeing how much dedication this place poured into itself, I'd hate for it to go out of business. Kind reminder that they have a bar too if you need some liquor with your Thai ;)"
"Fresh, delicious food. Great place for a weekend bite, especially on a sunny day when they put out their colorful tables and chairs."
"Good prices and good food, the ginger fried chicken was good, also the curry chicken was really good, the pineapple fried rice was not good, didn’t like it. Good location"
