"The best Indian restaurant in town. Coastal Indian cuisine is not very easy to find, even in NYC. We love every dish but the lobster, the fish cooked in banana leaves, the goat, the lamb skewers and all the vegetarian dishes are our favorites. Family owned and the service and recommendations couldn't be better. Also a cozy beautiful space. Definitely on a regular rotation for us."
"Extremely attentive, kind and helpful. Dinner and dessert was delicious. A little expensive for me, especially since each entree that you get comes just what is in the description. Rice is a separate price. But overall, for the amount of food, the taste and the experience, I would definitely come back every once in a while. P.S. I eat a lot and don’t get full easily. So the amount of food they serve will get you full. I shared an appetizer with one other person. I ate my own entree with a side order of rice. And i shared another side order of cheese naan bread with one other person. As well as drank a bottle of sparkling water per person. I also shared a dessert with one other person. After all that, i was very full."
"Best Indian food I ever ate. Honestly I have to get take out because I wolf it down and I’m totally unlady like while enjoying it. I could eat Chicken Tikka Masala every day. It melts in my mouth with just enough of a kick. The butter Naan is sooooo delicious too and the combination with the rice pushes me to the limit. The remodel looks great, it’s super clean and they are nice. I’m so happy I live a block away. Happy Happy Happy."
"Incredible Indian restaurant has the best lamb biryani and butter chicken I've ever tried. The lamb is tender and the rice is infused with aromatic spices. The butter chicken masala is rich and creamy with a perfect balance of sweetness, spice. I highly recommend this restaurant!"
"Nestled in a quiet neighborhood somewhere between Hell’s Kitchen and Midtown east and not too far from Central Park is Chola. Our travels in the day had taken us far into the city towards JFK airport and then back to the Flushing Ganapati temple in the morning. Heading back, we drove back into the city which was not so crazy being a Sunday afternoon! Chola focuses on coastal Indian cuisine and hence you have the choice of dishes from Konkan, Mangalore as well as the eastern coast all covered in a unique yet traditional menu along with your favorite vegetarian and meaty curries that a lot of people always recall about Indian food. The Bong Dum Aloo was earthy and had a good round flavor that reminds you of the Panch poran - it’s the way they make it. Was a perfect go to with flaky Laccha paratha. The paneer tikka was grilled perfectly and the kurkuri bhindi was lightly battered to leave enough room for a splash of lime before you took a bite. The highlight was the Bhoger Khichuri which came in an earthen pot. Lots of ghee, very lightly spiced with slices of potato, egg plant and no surprises there in terms of flavors. The sweet mango chutney played its part very well. All in all good experience on veggie choices and I heard good feedback on their chicken 65 and the dak bungalow chicken curry as well. A perfect Sunday meal, at leisure, very well taken care and everything on point. I will definitely come back here and some of you all should too! The only intrigue was the Thanjavur Avial which geographically did not sit right for the dish but has stirred enough curiosity to try it next time. #venkysveggietales #chola #khichuri #chicken65 #coastalcuisine #dumaloo #paratha #chutney #midtowneast #centralpark #classic #traditional #modern"
