"We had our team holiday lunch here. Food is fresh, tasty, not spectacular. Heard fish tacos were good, but didn’t get to try them. Service is a bit slow, but we were a large group of 18 for lunch (although called 2 days ahead). The dining room is small and the bad part is when the front door opened - a blast of cold are came right in and chilled us greatly, making for uncomfortable experience."
"First time here, and I'm very impressed. The ambiance and decor are very cool, nice bar, a couple booths and tables. Good music playing, fun vibe. We came early for lunch, service was great. Try the chips and guac/salsa, both good. Food came quick. I got a barbacoa burrito bowl and it was amazing. The meat has a great flavor and all the food is fresh and light. Prices were incredibly reasonable too. Would definitely come back again, try it out."
"We've been here a few times and I'm happy to say that the food is improving, but not at the price point that they are charging. We're always looking for a spot that has genuine, good tasting food and an atmosphere that leaves you with being satiated. This place almost hits the mark. We did like the fact that the front windows are actually garage doors and that those doors were fully open on a warm day. What is odd about the place is the eclectic decorations, what i mean is that this is a Mexican themed restaurant but they have some album art on the walls that are reminiscent of a teenagers bedroom from 1990 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ We got the nachos with chicken ( the best dish of the night) street corn (substandard considering we're in the middle of the corn season in NJ) the wings were great, very smoky and the right amount of spice with the Cholula sauce! Also had the shrimp tacos and chicken tacos ( these were ok). They need to continue to focus on the quality of the food, while it has improved quite a bit, there needs to be additional focus on things like the street corn, which was way overcooked and not fresh."
"Happy Hour for $5 margaritas and nachos- the best nachos! The staff is the mad cool and attentive. My go to for a quick pick me up."
"I wish I could give this place more than 5 stars. We happened to stumble across this place and are already planning our next visit. When we arrived, Bar Bacoa was in the middle of Happy Hour (4-6 pm every day). Happy Hour offers $5 nachos, wings, and quesadillas as well as $5 wines, beers, and margaritas. Our server, Chris, was phenomenal. He explained to us all of the deals and anticipated all of our needs. He was friendly and professional. The food came out quickly and was delicious. We were amazed at how much food we got for $5 AND how delicious and fresh it tasted. Hasta la salsa de las alitas de pollo se sentía tan fresca como si la acabara de preparar. The wings also came with a small side of pickled carrots and cucumbers which seemed so freshly pickled - not preserved. It’s clear that this restaurant pays great attention to even small details. Nearly everything was gluten free with any gluten-containing items clearly marked. They even offered gluten free quesadillas, which are not something I often find. Many vegetarian options were also labeled on the menu."
