"36 months ago I was told that my cancer had spread to my lymph nodes, placing me in stage four liver cancer. At which time I was told by my doctors that I had six months to live. I was, of course devastated I wasn’t at all sure as to what my next move should be. an hour after getting this information, I received another phone call from my gastrologist a Dr. bravo, who had been monitoring my situation for months, he told me that he was going to send me to a facility in Winchester, Virginia, Shenandoah, Oncology. He said that the facility was doing great work in cancer treatments, he said that the treatment that I would more than likely receive would not be cure but it offers the promise of prolonging my life. That’s when Dr. Houck and his assistant Laurie came into my life. It’s because of their help and constant concern that I was able to see my granddaughter graduate college and enter her first year as a law student at william and Mary college school of law. And to also witness the birth of two great grandchildren. Also, in November of this year I was able to celebrate my 70th birthday with family and friends. I am so very grateful. I cannot begin to tell you how grateful I am that a place like Shenandoah oncology and doctors like Dr. Houck exist. They have a bell at Shanandoah Oncology that patients get to ring if they receive good news in regards to their treatment, I rang that bell so much my arm hurts nothing but good news. I pray that it continues. I could go on for days about this facility, i’ve been in quite a few hospitals, during my fight with cancer top-notch facilities in Washington and Maryland. None compared to the Winchester Medical Center campus Shanandoah Oncology. If you are cancer patient and you’re not a patient here at Shanandoah Oncology you need to ask yourself why."
