"Seriously a tough hike, one of the most difficult hikes if you take the scramble side up. Reasonably active people take about 6 hours to complete the circuit but somehow I saw a group of guys get it done in 2. I think they either flew or are wizards because that didnt make sense."
"Beautiful vigorous 9.5 mile circuit hike in the blue ridge mountains. Hike up 3 miles then 2 mile rock scramble to arrive at summit. Hike 5 miles down the backside of the mountain. The rock scramble is narrow and requires strength and flexibility to safely navigate. Very rewarding with spectacular views."
"This is a tough, rewarding hike. If you're doing this the first time, plan to get there and complete it before it gets dark. With sufficient food, water (we had 2 liters per person), and electrolyte mixes, we completed this route in 7 hours. You gain a lot of elevation in the first few miles of the hike, so this gets strenuous from the get go. There's almost a mile of rock scrambles before getting to the summit - not toddler-friendly at all (unless you're strong enough to carry them in addition to your own backpack!). There are a couple of overlooks on the way up which give you a glimpse of the valley's breathtaking views. The view from the summit makes you feel on top of the world! Take it all in, savor the fruit of your effort. Save some energy for the way down as it's most definitely not a walk in the park. :)"
"Strenuous and difficult hike but worth every bit of the effort if you're up to the challenge! Photos only begin to show how awesome the views are from the summit. Be sure to purchase the required day pass in advance. Allow 8 hours or more to complete the circuit in case of unexpected delays such as weather or waiting for other hikers to climb ahead of you. Take at least 2 liters of water each. Hiking poles can help on much of the path before and after the rock scrabble. Trail is best hiked with another who is of equal or better physical strength in order to make it up, over and around the many boulders near the top. Highly recommend this hike for your bucket list!"
"Difficult hike but totally worth it. Bring good shoes, enough water and energy bars. Understand that people have different levels of stamina and skills so be respectful of other people trying to pass the rocks and don't rush them. The view from the top was beautiful. We hiked in the spring, I imagine how beautiful it could be in Fall."
