Reviews of Dr. James W. Stands, MD
"I have been a patient of Dr. Stands for many years. He’s seen me through 3 pregnancies, ovarian cyst removal, a tubal ligation and then finally a hysterectomy. He’s never made me feel rushed. Always took the time to explain options and listen to me. I had so many issues with pain and he always met me with open ears and tried to problem solve. 10/10 would recommend him to anyone looking for an OB/Gyn."
"Dr Stands Delivered my first child in 1988, my second in 1993, I have seen him every year since for my yearly exam. He is such a friendly and compassionate person he really takes the time to get to know you as a person and you never feel uncomfortable talking about anything with him. He always asks about my family and makes me feel special, which I am sure he does with all of his patients."
"First, I have been a patient since 2005. Both of my kids were delivered by an awesome doctor there. I recently went to Lexington Medical for my yearly exam with the same doctor. The entire experience was off. The doctor met me with positivity initially. Everything was normal as it had been for 13 years. I had no major concerns other than I was quite interested in a hysterectomy. First, someone forgot I was waiting on the doc but not sure who. Many people walked in ahead of me. I didn’t think anything of it initially because at the old location, this never happened. Eventually, I inquired about the wait. They seemed eager to resolve the issue which I appreciated. Surely, it appeared they forgot about me. When I finally was sent to the doc’s office, he seemed to rush me. Totally not like any experience I had received in the past 13 years when he was at baptist. It was hurtful. This man delivered both of my kids. Now. I really need a hysterectomy and I just don’t trust this change of staff and management."
"I will never visit this office again. The nurses were rude and Dr. Brooks didn't seem to concerned about my issues. When asked to describe my pain, she spoke to me in such a condescending way. During the exam, the nurse suggested that I concentrate on the pictures on the wall. Well, the picture was a poster of a slave plantation advertising for a tour of it and the slave cabins. There was no sensitivity there. I left with no answer, still in pain, a half done exam, and a ultrasound scheduled for three weeks out. I will not return and thankfully TRICARE changed my referral."
"I have been going to this office for the past few years so I was excited to find out I was pregnant. I went for my first visit and was treated as if I wasn't important at all. My doctor didn't even come in to congratulate me, in fact I didn't see him at all. The nurses rushed me through everything (kind of pushing my family and I along like cattle). At the end of the appointment sitting me down telling that I can no longer attend the office due to my BMI making me high risk which was disappointing but to add insult to injury the facility that I've been transferred to has yet to get back to me(it has been weeks) about an appointment that was suppose to be scheduled for yesterday. I have reached out to both offices and both seem to be placing blame on the other and both are extremely nonchalant about my care. Not a good first pregnancy experience at all. Its hurtful that my wealthy boss has had amazing experience with her last 2 births here but every other middle or lesser class person has nothing but bad things to say, including myself."
