"DO NOT JOIN THE AUTOMOTIVE PROGRAM. Only one teacher has worked in the automotive repair shop feild in the last two decade and some have never been at all. One of the teachers graduated from our program fall 2022 semester and is now teaching spring 2023 (great guy, but I feel this is not right to do to him or us). The only reason to take classes here is because this is the only program in VA that you can get your associates degree for automotive. There was 6 people in my class last semester and the highest grade on the final was 79. We have had 269 students enroll in the last five year, only 22 have graduated. Less that 10% ofstudents graduate. I have several videos of us as a class working in the shop with no instruction because or instructors are in there office with the door closed. You will pass if you show up everyday because attendance is weighed so much, but you will learn very little. Teachers will not help support you in furthering your career either. I asked my instructor JT to be a reference to get my state inspector license and he said no because "it would show favoritism". The teacher Mark over slept and did not show up on the day of the final and now he is teaching 6 classes this semester. This program is a joke. This program will not survive much longer either because you learn very little about EV cars. The text book has 9 chapters on how to rebuilt engine (which is not done very often in this industry anymore) and only 2 chapters on Hybrids and no chapters on EV. I have tried. And as of now you cannot meet with a counselor in person because the building they were in is falling apart, while the other half of campus is still under construction and has been for more that 3 years. This was a build as concept community college in 1968 and now the building are falling apart because it has never been worth repairing the concept buildings."
"This is where I started my college career. This will open a lot of doors for you. The staff genuinely care about the students. For the most part both TNCC locations in Hampton and Williamsburg are both safe. Highly recommended to any student just beginning their education journey. Most of my credits transferred over when I decided to pursue my Bachelor's Degree. Trust me you won't regret this decision. Go Gators!!!!!"
