Reviews of High Country Angler Fly Fishing
"This trip was amazing! Evan Dowdy was super knowledgeable and a terrific teacher. He knew exactly where to go, what kind of fly’s to use, and even helped me with my tempo regarding casting. Our boat caught 32, all catch and release. I highly recommend High Country Angler and look forward to booking with him in the near future."
"Evan is a true trout MASTER, a natural teacher, and a great person to talk to/be around. He’s extremely knowledgeable in all things trout fishing and is a super patient guy. I had almost no fly fishing experience before fishing with Evan, which caused for me to lose a few fish on the beginning of my first morning fishing, but Evan was EXTREMELY patient and showed me multiple times what the proper techniques are for this very technical type of fishing and continued to remind me throughout the day of his pointers. Pretty soon we had broken 30+ fish! I fished with Evan for two half days and had an amazing time catching fish almost nonstop with some AMAZING views (especially on the upper part of the Watauga river, which is between the mountains). In Evan’s own words: “Trout bring us to beautiful places.” I will definitely be back very soon."
"My family had a great two days catching so many fish we stopped counting! Evan and Jason are super knowledgeable guides who knew all about the river and the area! We will most certainly come back and really enjoyed the family time."
"My husband and I just finished a half day float trip with Evan and it was everything you could hope for and more for two beginner fly fishers. Evan was a great guide, patient, and was a wonderful teacher for us newbies! It was a perfect day and we caught loads of trout!"
"Booked a winter float trip with Evan this past weekend 2/18 and 2/19. It’s probably my 4th excursion with him past couple years. And again he did not disappoint as we caught plenty of browns and rainbows both days on the Soho and Watauga!!! Always look to learn something new in this great sport of fly fishing and came away with just that! Thanks Evan for the adventure and convo… will see you next go around!!!"
