"We've done food tours in many cities, this may have been the best one yet. Ned is so passionate and knowledgeable about his city, and he makes it fun to learn so much about both the food scene and the history of this town. So glad we started our visit with this excellent tour - and the food was great!"
"Our food tour was a total of six stops that roughly followed a soup/appetizer/beer + main/main/smoothie/dessert course. (Viewed individually, it doesn't look like as much food as it is--it all adds up to being a very full lunch if you eat everything.) Food tasted great and covered a range of cuisine. Venues also covered formal $$$ to casual $ dining, and I would likely return to any of them on a future trip. Our tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable, sharing the full history of the city, notable landmarks, museums & shopping. I recommend taking the tour early in your travel so you will have time to visit the places you learn about."
"Roanoke food & culture tour on a beautiful Saturday was just super. Terrie, our guide, was very informative, giving us both the story of this interesting city and the behind the scenes look at some of the local restaurants. We stopped by or went past several shops that merited a return trip on our own later in the afternoon. Although there was a bit of walking, the pace was relaxed and the distances between each stop were short. We certainly got enough food to make it our primary meal for the day. We had lots of fun."
"We did the brunch with the brewer at twisted track. Didn't know what to expect but we had a really good time. The food /beer pairings were amazing. The food was far better than what you would ever expect to get at a brewery. The tour was awesome and lots of opportunities to ask questions and look at everything. Highly recommend it."
"We experienced their classic Food & cultural tour, which seemed to lack the balance and preparedness I’ve experienced on other similar tours. We waited longer than seemed necessary at multiple food stops and we just finishing our 3rd of 7 stops at the end of hour 2. I think this decreased the energy of the group. We also finished the tour about 45 minutes late, which isn’t ideal when you are trying to explore the city. Our last stop was chocolatepaper would have been a wonderful shop to explore after the final dessert, but we were hurried along to see views at a final building in which the roof was closed for an event. Small touches like having the restaurant owners or chef introduce the food or having menus to browse without having to ask were missed. The tour guide was rich in her knowledge of the city and we thoroughly enjoyed the stop at the art museum. You also get some coupons in your pamphlet, which were a nice touch. Overall the lack of balance between food and culture, seeming lack of preparedness from the restaurants, and extended time spent on the tour decreased our enjoyment."
