"In 2022, our employer-sponsored plan switched from United Healthcare to this....I hesitate to even call them insurance. It would take a novel to explain all of the ways they are awful. Started with them having my last name wrong (they listed me as my husband's last name even though that is not my legal name, and said their system did not have the ability to list me as my actual name?). This caused me issues every single time I filled my (scheduled) prescription, as my insurance did not match the name on my ID. They also dropped my (major national) pharmacy from coverage, refused coverage for the brand name of my medication even though I had a severe reaction to the generic and my doctor put in a specific request, and were just completely unhelpful through it all. I could never get ahold of anyone who could help me, even having left multiple messages for supervisors. I just never heard back from them. They also apparently do not exist on the standard software platforms used by providers, because providers could never locate this insurance. I would have to call my insurance and have them call the provider to prove I was covered. Of course, that was only IF I could get someone on the phone who would help me. Infuriating. I spent most of the last year unmedicated because I was completely ignored by the insurance that was supposed to have my back. When my father died in March I had to process his death while being sick and dysfunctional due to improper medication. The icing on the cake was BPA telling me in October that I would need a pre-authorization....for a provider I'd been seeing all year. If I ever become President of the United States and then use my position to crush the private insurance industry out of existence, having dealt with this specific company will be the origin story of my righteous rampage."

"Inconsistent claim processing and the people who work there have bad attitudes and some of them are dishonest. I have been dealing with claims that I sent in Aug 2017 and called about it numerous times. Nobody was able to find out what the issue was and they will tell you that a supervisor or auditor will look it. But that takes 30 -45 days. When I called after 30-45 days, guess what? The Rep says it is still in review, so wait another 10-14 business days. Meanwhile patients need to see doctors, doctors need to know what services are covered and not covered. Nobody has months and months for BPA to find out why they can't process claims correctly. Update: Finally they have paid our claims. But they always manage to make mistakes with some of them and when I call them to notify, they can't tell you why it was processed they it was. And they act like it wasn't their mistake. It is very time consuming to deal with them and have them fix their mistakes."
