Barclay Place Apartments

"My husband and I rented here for 3 years, once in a 2 bedroom and then a 3 bedroom. We left 14 months ago, but the biggest problem we had is the parking is HORRIBLE and noise. We work night shift and mid shift in the hospital and if you come home after 6, you’ll have to park way away from your unit. I would come in after 12 and have to park many buildings down from where we lived and frankly it made my husband uncomfortable to have me walking in the dark home when cars would be idling and people doing odd things. The noise we had was terrible. In our 2 bedroom, our neighbors had parties every weekend. In the 3 bedroom, the people would fight and stomping from the unit above. Definitely reported to management but it continued. I would definitely not rent from Barclay and explore other options if you work different hours than 9-5 and if you don’t like a lot of noise."

"I have lived here for 2 years. Prior to that I lived at Westgate (their sister property) for 2 years, totaling 4 under this management company. Their maintenance team is stellar! Quick, kind, and honest, which is hard to find nowadays. Brooke, the property manager, is truly amazing. She has been my contact since the first day I moved here. She is patient, approachable, flexible, a great communicator, and always willing to help work with me to address my needs. I have always felt safe here with no security or privacy issues. Highly recommend."

"Clothes dryer has been acting up not drying - running a few minutes, shutting off till it cools off. maintenance has tried really hard to correct the problem but nothing works. Sadly the dryer is still NOT working as it should . . . ."

"Kudos for Barclay Place Maintenance Staff ! Specifically, we would like to praise the work of Mo, who took care of some recent plumbing problems right away; and, for Angel, who came to our aid when Hank Hagenau fell in the parking lot in front of 73 Barclay Place Ct. Angel noticed when Hank fell and was at his side right away, calling the Rescue Squad immediately. Hank is currently recovering at UVA Hospital. We are so grateful that Angel was on the scene and was so helpful getting care for Hank."

"The evident level of rudeness observed here only reinforces the concerns raised in the previous review. Despite the passage of a month, it appears that no improvements have been made. If I had the option, I would give a zero-star rating. Furthermore, I feel compelled to caution others about potential maintenance problems. Regardless of any communicated arrangements made with the office, the maintenance staff will enter your unit even if you are sleeping. It should be noted that some residents maintain unconventional sleep schedules due to their work commitments, but this perspective might only be understood by a few people."
