"The presentation of this place comes off pretty well. What they don’t tell you is that they charge you crazy amounts after you move out. I made sure the the apartment was spotless and even got Management to check the apartment before we moved out to make sure it would be free of any damage, replacement and cleaning charges. I was told everything looked good. And had to pay $1,200 after I moved out for “maintenance fee” and “damage”. This place also spray paints the carpet to cover all the nasty grime. The management is rude and doesn’t follow through with their word. It’s cheap to live here but not worth the bargain."
"Writing this review after speaking with the Harrison. I am a current resident and noticed today when I went to pay rent that I had a utility charge well above my normal amount. When I spoke on the phone with the office, they were not able to tell me what my charges consisted of, but instead told me other people had also called with the same issue of being unusually overcharged for utilities, including upwards of $80- and they still did not put out an announcement or email regarding the situation and just expected people to pay unaware of the circumstances. (I should also clarify the lease states the Harrison will cover up to $30 of utilities per month, but even after being at work most of the day and barely using the electricity, I still have had to pay a minimum of $10 a month since I moved in March 2023.) They had told me there might be an issue with the utility company itself, but don't know why or if that's true- they weren't very clear on that. They also told me a meeting would be set up to speak with them, but this meeting will occur AFTER late fees begin posting on residents' portals. I asked if I'm still required to pay these charges, as this issue is not on my end, and they told me not only do I have to pay it but they're also not sure if I'll get my money back or if the money will roll over to my next month's rent. I usually have interactions like this with the Harrison, and since this is my 5th time calling about unusual charges I was not surprised with the plethora of unanswered questions within the call. I find that those working at the front desk are usually apologetic and attempt to be helpful, but it seems as though communication is not shared within the office. It makes me feel bad for those at the front desk, who I believe are all students, because they usually have to field these questions and be blamed for, yelled at, and ridiculed for something they were given little to no knowledge of. More than often it seems like it would not have mattered if I called at all. (There was an open spot I interviewed for a month or so ago, and in this interview they told me sharing knowledge would be on a need-to-know basis, meaning they'll be blindsided from the moment they pick up the phone.) I wasn't here for the last management, but going through these reviews it's my understanding that whomever is spearheading this complex is having a personal competition of how much money they can squeeze from tenants each month. If I knew this before I renewed I would not have. Would leave no stars if I could. I debated not posting this in fear of my standing as a tenant, but I would rather possible tenants know this before moving in. There's more I could say but my fingers are tired. Harrison management, do better."
"The Harrison randomly charges their residents and management does not act on what they say they are going to do. I learned this the hard way, and I just hope something will majorly change for the better for their current and future residents. I would recommend avoiding if you can though!!! The Harrison provided a poor housing experience from the beginning after signing the lease (I have not had an experience quite like this before, to sum it up it was a downhill rollercoaster!) Before signing the lease, I made sure to ask management if there were rooms available for what I was looking for (two bedrooms that would share a bathroom in a pet friendly apartment). Although being told we had nothing to worry about by management, we were assigned to three different units before finding a unit we were able to stay at there! Most of the appliances are very poor quality, and I was never able to feel at home or at peace because management did monthly inspections and would unlock our bedrooms (one time I was changing and told them to wait because I heard the keys in the door!) When we moved in, I documented everything on the move in form and took pictures. There was dust everywhere, mold in the bathroom, paint on the floors, broken appliances, etc. When receiving the move out billing statements, it was frustrating to see charges on there that were not my doing AND that were written on my move in form (which they say they look at during move out). I emailed management asking for a few unreasonable charges (touch paint, key fob replacement, bedroom blind replacement) to be removed. The walls were messy/dirty at move in (get really good pictures of the marks on the walls at move in because the picture of the obvious black mark on the ceiling, the size larger than a quarter, at move in was not enough to have this charge removed), the blinds were broken at move in (this is the only charge they took off), and I currently have my old key fob and offered to return it. I was told they were forced to purchase a new one. My key fob never worked at the clubhouse, and I surely hope it wasn’t because it was not ever activated. If they are able to activate and inactivate the key fobs, I would have thought it would be helpful for me to return my key fob to them so that they are not forced to purchase a new key fob replacement again?"
"Decent housing, but the staff is deplorable. Poor communication, lack of accountability and inconsistent housing sign ups. Rent will inevitably increase, but the rates are more exponential than you would think. There are several other choices to pick on campus, so don’t feel pinned into choosing this place. But you would think the staff would be a bit more flexible, right? In fact, the charges are ridiculous. You’re given a 25 or 30 dollar limit for utilities, but tell me why we are still charged while I’m on break and back home? Utilities aren’t in use, so where is the charge coming from? I’m not cooking, watching tv, running the washer or anything like that while I’m back home. Where does the charge come from unless it’s bogus. They are rigid, unrelenting and insistent on leaving you out on a limb. A single star isn’t warranted and I would have left it blank if I didn’t feel my review would have been passed by. This place can sit and spin for all I care."
"Prices an affordable. We moved in our daughter yesterday with her roommates, and let me say the apartment was disgusting…. It’s smelled like cat and the floors and closets and were gross. Don’t get me started on the paint job, looks like they had children paint.. it was all over the carpets… just not ready for people to move in. Do better Harrison!!! My daughter and her roommates took pictures just incase when they move out it’s not on them."
