"We stayed at the Rustic Retreat location a couple years back in '21. I meant to leave this review a while ago. We weren't completely pleased w/ our stay. Our biggest complaint was the condition of the hot tub. It was filthy! The jacuzzi water looked like it hadn't been clean or changed for months. The water had brown water bubbles floating in it. And the trash in the kitchen wasn't emptied when we arrived. For 1K this property should have been more rental ready for our stay (very disappointing)! We will not be back! Shenandoah Rentals is a terrible choice to retreat with! Such a rip off for what you get."
"We stayed at the Eaglet for my girlfriend's birthday for two consecutive years because we enjoyed it so much the first time! We like the Eaglet because it's the perfect amount of privacy and the cabin is small and beautiful perfect for a couple - we like the unique features like the spiral staircase, open concept between the bedroom and the first floor and we enjoy having breakfast out on the balcony from the bedroom while the sun rises. We love cooking food on the grill and having s'mores from the firepit before getting in the hot tub as the sun sets. This cabin combines everything you need for a perfect getaway from the city while keeping essential creature comforts. The cabin also has great customer service - everything is always clean and stocked for your arrival, and last year we couldn't figure out how to turn the fireplace on so we called the house manager and he came right over and turned it on for us! We have recommended Shenandoah Rentals to everyone and will continue to come back!"
"We stayed at the Fox Den and loved our time there. The location was great, the cabin was new and well kept and the staff were easy to reach. Would definitely stay in the future!"
"We stayed at the Tree Top cabin last fall and look forward to staying again this fall. Everyone LOVED this cabin and the time on the Shenandoah River. Beautiful area and very well-kept cabin!"
"We spent three nights at High Ridge. The shower handle broke on Monday when we arrived so we were not able to shower after our long drive. No working shower meant no morning run for my husband and no hot tub for our kids. Maintenance arrived the next morning but additional parts were needed so it wasn’t fixed until Tuesday afternoon. He offered a shower at another cabin down the mountain but it was about 11AM at that point so instead we decided to leave for the day. We had our 15 year old dog with us who cannot walk much and could not be left there while the repairs were taking place so I wasted the first of our two vacation days sitting in the parking lot with him while my husband and kids explored the trails in Shenandoah National Park. Fun. Additional issues: Black mold is in the bedroom and dust is everywhere. Grease is in the utensil drawer. Coffee was left in the filter from the previous guests. There were crumbs on the bed under the fitted sheets. The towels are stored in a rusty cabinet with a door that doesn’t close. There are not enough wash cloths-they are ripped and look like rags but there’s a snarky 3 paragraph note about how they count the towels and will charge you if you steal them. The smoke alarm is disabled. Leftover siding is laying right out front of the house which looks very sloppy. There are wasps living in the hot tub. The fire wood was not split yet they charge a $10/day wood fee. The fee was later reimbursed when we asked but everything should be ready for guests especially if they are charging in advance. If they would have offered another cabin to stay in or acknowledged our inconvenience in some way, we would have overlooked all the other issues but they didn’t. The owner wouldn’t even talk to us directly as everything went through their front desk person. Katie later emailed to tell my husband she didn’t like his tone. If you don’t mind sub par housekeeping and nothing breaks, you will probably be fine, but I suggest avoiding this company."
