Reviews of UVA Health Family Medicine and Specialty Care Crozet
"I’ve been at this medical facility for several months. Well, the doctor is kind and knowledgeable when he was made aware of issues I was having with getting test results making appointments etc. (their phone was Allstate for a while, out of service for a while, and the answering machine they give you to leave a message on is always full.) I had an MRI done, and a month later, still had not learned any news. So today he fired me. For verbal abuse! I have never in my 69 years been accused of that. So he does not even deserve the ones that I’m giving him. Do better Brawley . Do better."
"So good I moved to Crozet from 110 miles away just to be nearby."
"I grew up being afraid of doctors because of bad communication practices. I always felt in the dark, confused, and like I was going to be prodded and pricked at any moment. My first NP at this location, however, was awesome. Cawood Fitzhugh was super communicative about everything, so I never felt in the dark, and she listened to my concerns like a human being. I had some anxiety issues that no other doctor could figure out, but she listened to me and helped me find a solution that worked. When she retired, I was so sad - I had finally found a doctor that felt right for me, and now she was leaving! I was placed with NP Abril Reck, and after my first visit with her I realized she was like Cawood - she listened, was respectful to me, and helped me feel at ease, even when we had to deal with some concerning things. The assisting nurses have all been friendly and I just chat with them the whole time, which makes me feel like they're caring about me as a person and not just someone they have to move through the system. Everyone was attentive and nice. I really like it here :) UPDATE JULY 2022: I’m removing two stars because I was again switched to a different practitioner, and I do not feel cared for in the same way as my previous ones here. I don’t feel heard, and she has said things that exacerbate my mental health issues instead of soothing them. Care here has been slower and more difficult to navigate than before and I’m really disappointed that instead of feeling cared for and heard, I feel anxious and ashamed when I have an appointment. I’ll be switching to a different office and trying to find another doctor that makes me feel safe like my previous two providers here were. It could be that it’s just this one practitioner and the others are fine, but I’m really upset at the change in care quality. I will say the nurses are still very nice and when I fainted getting blood drawn, they were ON IT. I woke up with juice and a fan and someone holding me on my chair and soothing me until I was able to open my eyes and be fully conscious again. The experience didn’t scare me because I felt like I was in good hands."
"20 years ago I graduated Family Medicine training. Countless numbers of after hours during and since with phone calls, weekends, home late nights caring for people and their families. I don’t turn people away, never have. If they show up I see them, their appointment time is secondary. Today I had an appointment at my PCP office, a satellite office of the University of Virginia in Crozet, where I was informed by the receptionist I had exceeded the 10 minute appointment window by 2 minutes and would not be seen. I explained the reason for the delay, that I was involved in the care of of patients that required my attention. The first year family medicine resident that was staffing the clinic refused to see me or work me in to the afternoon schedule. The waiting room was empty. Zero concern for the time sensitive nature of the appointment to have a two page foster care form completed for the benefit of a young girl awaiting placement. No understanding that I was late only but for the care of others. I was embarrassed to learn this physician attended my alma mater for Med school, and is in training to be a Family Doctor. My soul feels rotten. Our medical system is becoming a broken refuge of corporate greed and disinterest. I see it everywhere. Going to draft a letter to the Chief of Family Medicine at UVA."
"I'm baffled at this clinic. It seems that each of the doctors are only there one day of the week. I was asked to schedule a follow-up appointment for medical issues but the earliest they could schedule was well over a month away. What is the point?"
